Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Assemble a variety of mechanical and electronic components, sub-assemblies, and systems for kitchen appliances according to detailed blueprints, diagrams, and written work instructions.
- Operate a range of hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic equipment—including drills, screw guns, rivet guns, and calibrated torque wrenches—with high levels of precision and care.
- Perform continuous in-process quality checks and visual inspections to ensure components and assemblies meet stringent company standards and cosmetic specifications.
- Connect and install wiring harnesses, electrical components, control panels, and tubing, meticulously following color-coded diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Conduct functional and diagnostic tests on finished or partially assembled appliances to verify proper operation, using specialized computerized and manual testing equipment.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve routine assembly issues or product defects, escalating complex problems to team leadership or engineering support for resolution.
- Handle and position large or heavy components and appliance chassis using hoists, ergonomic lifts, or established team-lifting techniques while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by consistently following 5S principles and company-wide safety guidelines.
- Accurately record production and quality data, including units completed, parts consumed, and any identified defects, into the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or other tracking software.
- Rotate through different workstations and assembly tasks as dictated by production schedules to support team flexibility and foster skill development.
- Monitor the performance and calibration of assembly tools and equipment, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Adhere strictly to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for the assigned work area, which may include safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and quality inspectors to achieve daily production targets and cultivate a positive, safety-first work environment.
- Read and interpret work orders and production schedules to understand daily tasks, priorities, and specific product configurations required.
- Manage the flow of materials to the workstation, ensuring all necessary parts and components are readily available to prevent production delays.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, such as cleaning and minor adjustments, to ensure its longevity and reliability.
- Cross-train on different product lines and assembly processes to enhance operational flexibility and broaden personal skillset.
- Assist in the final inspection process, checking for cosmetic defects such as scratches, dents, or misalignments before the unit is approved for final packaging.
- Follow all established Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety procedures when handling sensitive electronic circuit boards and components to prevent damage.
- Uphold a strong commitment to quality, actively seeking to prevent defects through careful work rather than simply detecting them at the end of the line.
