Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Diligently assist senior carpenters in the end-to-end process of fabricating and installing high-end custom and semi-custom kitchen cabinetry.
Accurately measure and mark cutting lines on materials, including solid wood, plywood, MDF, and laminates, using tape measures, squares, and marking gauges.
Safely operate a variety of stationary woodworking machinery, such as table saws, band saws, planers, and jointers, under direct supervision and guidance.
Become proficient in the use of handheld power tools, including circular saws, jigsaws, routers, drills, and sanders, while adhering to all safety protocols.
e- Learn and execute the precise assembly of cabinet boxes, face frames, doors, and drawers using fasteners, adhesives, dowels, and other joining methods.
Support the installation team on-site by transporting materials, setting up work areas, and providing hands-on assistance as directed.
Perform meticulous on-site installations of base and upper cabinets, ensuring they are plumb, level, and securely fastened to wall structures.
Assist in the fitting and installation of kitchen components such as crown molding, light valances, toe-kicks, and decorative hardware.
Learn to scribe fillers and panels to irregular wall surfaces for a seamless, built-in appearance.
Read and interpret architectural blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists to understand project specifications and material requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, both in the workshop and on the client's property, by cleaning up debris and properly storing tools.
Gain experience in the application of wood finishes, including sanding, staining, and sealing, to prepare components for final assembly.
Assist in the careful measurement and templating for countertops, ensuring accuracy for third-party fabricators.
Participate in the loading and unloading of company vehicles, ensuring all cabinetry, tools, and materials are secured safely for transport.
Inspect materials for defects and ensure that all components meet the company's high standards for quality and craftsmanship.
Learn to perform minor adjustments and repairs on-site to ensure perfect cabinet alignment and door/drawer functionality.

Secondary Functions

Support the workshop by managing inventory of hardware, fasteners, and other consumable supplies, and report shortages to the shop foreman.
Actively participate in all safety meetings and training sessions, contributing to a culture of safety awareness.
Shadow senior carpenters during client interactions to develop customer service and communication skills.
Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot and solve unexpected challenges that arise during fabrication or installation.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of workshop processes by offering suggestions for efficiency and quality enhancements.
Maintain a personal log of learned skills and completed tasks to track progress through the apprenticeship program.
