Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct in-depth, personalized design consultations with clients in our showroom and in their homes to accurately assess their functional requirements, aesthetic preferences, and budget constraints.
  • Conceptualize, design, and present comprehensive kitchen layouts and decorative plans using industry-standard software (e.g., 2020 Design, AutoCAD) to create compelling 3D renderings and floor plans.
  • Guide clients through the material selection process, providing expert advice on cabinetry, countertops, backsplashes, flooring, hardware, lighting fixtures, and paint colors.
  • Develop and present detailed, accurate project proposals and sales quotes, clearly outlining scope of work, product specifications, and total investment.
  • Create inspiring mood boards and material palettes to help clients visualize the final look and feel of their new kitchen space.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the client throughout the project, providing regular updates, managing expectations, and ensuring a seamless and positive customer experience.
  • Skillfully generate sales by converting design consultations into confirmed projects, consistently meeting or exceeding individual and team sales targets.
  • Meticulously measure and document existing site conditions to ensure all designs are technically sound and all ordered materials will fit correctly upon installation.
  • Prepare and manage all project-related documentation, including contracts, purchase orders, and installation notes for trade partners.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, installers, contractors, and vendors to ensure design intent is executed flawlessly and on schedule.
  • Proactively identify and resolve any design or installation challenges that may arise on-site, demonstrating creative problem-solving skills.
  • Cultivate strong, lasting relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and generate positive referrals within the community.
  • Manage the entire project timeline, from ordering and tracking materials to coordinating installation schedules with various trades.
  • Perform final walkthroughs with clients upon project completion to ensure absolute satisfaction and address any final touch-up items.
  • Stay at the forefront of the kitchen and bath industry by continuously researching new products, materials, and emerging design trends.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in maintaining the visual appeal and organization of the design showroom, ensuring displays are current, clean, and inspiring.
  • Participate in and contribute to regular team meetings, sharing project successes, challenges, and insights to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Develop and maintain a professional portfolio of completed projects to showcase design capabilities to prospective clients.
  • Attend industry trade shows, vendor training sessions, and networking events to expand product knowledge and professional connections.
  • Support marketing initiatives by providing content, such as project photos and design tips, for social media and the company website.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • CAD Software Proficiency: High level of skill in kitchen design software such as 2020 Design, Chief Architect, SketchUp, or AutoCAD.
  • Space Planning: Deep understanding of spatial relationships, NKBA guidelines, and ergonomic principles, including the kitchen work triangle.
  • Product Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of kitchen products including cabinetry lines, countertop materials (granite, quartz, etc.), tile, flooring, and appliances.
  • Sales & Quoting: Ability to prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates, proposals, and sales contracts.
  • Project Coordination: Experience in managing project timelines, ordering materials, and coordinating with installers and trade partners.
  • Technical Drawing: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural plans.
  • Manual Sketching: Competency in creating quick, clear hand sketches to communicate design ideas during consultations.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 2-5 years of direct experience in kitchen design, high-end retail sales, or a related interior design field.
