Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute the complete installation of kitchen furniture, including base units, wall units, and full-height larder units, ensuring they are level, secure, and perfectly aligned according to design specifications.
- Precisely measure, cut, and install a wide variety of worktops, including laminate, solid wood, quartz, and granite, creating seamless joins and professionally finished sink and hob cut-outs.
- Expertly scribe and fit end panels, cornices, pelmets, and plinths to accommodate uneven walls and floors, achieving a flawless, integrated finish.
- Interpret and work from detailed technical drawings, CAD plans, and survey reports to ensure every element of the kitchen is installed in the correct location and to the specified dimensions.
- Install a full range of kitchen appliances, both integrated (e.g., dishwashers, fridges, ovens) and freestanding, ensuring they are correctly housed and fully functional.
- Undertake first-fix and second-fix plumbing duties, including connecting sinks, taps, washing machines, and dishwashers to the water supply and waste systems.
- Perform basic electrical tasks such as connecting appliances to existing fused spurs, installing under-cabinet lighting, and ensuring all work is conducted safely and in line with regulations.
- Prepare surfaces and carry out wall and floor tiling, including grouting and sealing, to complete the kitchen's aesthetic.
- Act as the primary on-site point of contact for the customer, providing regular updates, managing expectations, and professionally addressing any questions or concerns.
- Proactively identify and solve unforeseen on-site challenges, such as unexpected pipework, uneven surfaces, or plan discrepancies, with minimal disruption to the project timeline.
- Conduct a thorough pre-installation check to verify measurements, assess site readiness, and confirm all components have been delivered correctly.
- Be responsible for the complete removal and ethical disposal of the old kitchen units and appliances, leaving the site ready for the new installation.
- Ensure all installations adhere to current building regulations, industry best practices, and the manufacturer's installation guidelines.
- Manage the project timeline efficiently, coordinating with other tradespeople like plasterers and certified electricians when necessary to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all times, adhering strictly to all health and safety protocols to protect yourself, the client, and the property.
- Perform a detailed quality check upon completion of the installation, compiling a snagging list for any remedial work and ensuring all tasks are finished to the highest standard.
- Assemble complex flat-pack kitchen units and components with precision, ensuring structural integrity and a perfect fit.
- Customize and modify standard units or panels on-site to accommodate unique room features or create bespoke solutions as required.
- Manage and account for all project materials, components, and tools, minimizing waste and ensuring the security of all items on site.
- Conduct a final handover with the client, demonstrating the features and functions of the new kitchen and appliances, and ensuring complete customer satisfaction before sign-off.

- Support the training and mentoring of apprentice fitters, sharing knowledge and skills to develop the next generation of craftspeople.
- Provide professional feedback to designers and surveyors on plan practicalities to help improve future designs.

- Complete all necessary project paperwork, including job completion forms, timesheets, and customer sign-off documents, in a timely and accurate manner.
