  • Sanding and Imperfection Correction: Skillfully sand surfaces using various grits and techniques, both by hand and with power sanders, to de-gloss existing finishes and create a smooth, uniform profile for painting. This includes filling and repairing minor dings, dents, and wood imperfections.
  • Precision Masking and Protection: Carefully mask and protect all non-painted surfaces, such as countertops, floors, appliances, walls, and backsplashes, using tape, plastic sheeting, and paper to prevent overspray and paint drips.
  • Hardware and Component Management: Systematically remove, label, and organize all cabinet hardware, including hinges, handles, and knobs, ensuring they can be reinstalled correctly upon project completion.
  • Primer Application Support: Assist in the application of high-quality primers, learning to recognize proper coverage and film thickness required for sealing surfaces and providing a solid foundation for the topcoat.
  • Material Handling and Logistics: Safely transport cabinet doors and drawers from the client's home to the workshop and back, ensuring no damage occurs during transit. Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials from the company vehicle.
  • Assisting with Finish Coat Application: Support the Lead Painter during the spraying or brushing of finish coats, managing hoses, mixing paint to the correct consistency, and observing techniques to learn the craft of fine-finish painting.
  • Inter-Coat Sanding: Perform light scuff-sanding between coats of primer and paint as directed to remove any imperfections or nibs, ensuring the smoothest possible final finish.
  • Quality Control Inspection: Develop a keen eye for detail by inspecting prepped and painted surfaces for flaws, such as runs, sags, or debris, and bringing them to the attention of the Lead Painter for correction.
  • Final Assembly and Reinstallation: Carefully re-install cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, making adjustments as needed to ensure proper alignment and function, completing the kitchen's transformation.
  • Site Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite at all times, both in the client's home and in the spray shop, by sweeping, vacuuming, and managing waste disposal.

  • Adherence to Safety Protocols: Strictly follow all company and industry safety guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like respirators, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Assist in keeping track of job-site inventory of materials like sandpaper, tape, caulk, and paint, communicating needs to the Lead Painter to avoid project delays.
  • Client Property Protection: Take extreme care in setting up and tearing down the work area, using drop cloths and protective coverings to safeguard the client's home and belongings from dust and damage.
  • Learning and Skill Development: Proactively ask questions and seek to understand the "why" behind different processes, materials, and techniques used in high-end cabinet refinishing.
  • Professional On-Site Conduct: Interact courteously and professionally with clients when on-site, maintaining a positive and respectful demeanor as a representative of the company.
  • Problem-Solving Support: Assist the Lead Painter in troubleshooting minor on-site challenges, such as unexpected surface conditions or tricky masking situations.
