Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Spearhead the end-to-end design and development process for knitwear collections, from initial concept and mood board creation to final production hand-off.
Create and maintain highly detailed and accurate technical packages (tech packs) using PLM software, ensuring all specifications, including graded measurements, construction details, and finishing techniques, are clear for factory partners.

Source, develop, and select yarns, trims, and hardware, managing relationships with yarn mills and suppliers to innovate and achieve target costs and quality standards.
Communicate daily with overseas factories and domestic vendors to manage the sampling process, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure the accurate execution of design intent.
Lead and participate in all knitwear fitting sessions, providing expert feedback and pattern corrections to achieve the desired fit, drape, and silhouette across all sizes.
Review and provide precise, actionable comments on all development samples, including proto-samples, fit samples, and pre-production samples, ensuring adherence to design and quality benchmarks.
Create and manage detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) for each style, ensuring all components are accurately captured for costing and production purposes.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of knit stitches, swatches, and yarn qualities, serving as a critical resource for current and future seasons.
Engineer knitwear designs to meet specific cost targets without compromising quality or aesthetic integrity, suggesting alternative constructions or yarns where necessary.

Approve lab dips, yarn strike-offs, and bulk production dye lots to ensure color consistency and quality across the entire production run.
Travel internationally and domestically to partner factories and mills for on-site development, quality control checks, and production ramp-ups.

Utilize Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create detailed knitwear sketches (flats), stitch layouts, and color-ups for tech packs and presentation boards.
Develop innovative and proprietary knit structures, jacquards, and intarsia designs that provide a unique and competitive advantage for the brand.
Ensure all knitwear products meet rigorous performance and quality standards through diligent testing and risk assessment during the development phase.
