Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Expertly operate a variety of industrial sewing machines, including overlockers (sergers), flatlock, and coverstitch machines, to assemble knitwear garments according to specifications.
Interpret and meticulously follow technical packets, garment spec sheets, and sewing patterns to ensure the accurate construction of each piece.
Precisely join garment sections, including setting sleeves, attaching collars and neckbands, and closing side seams, ensuring smooth and pucker-free results.
Skillfully attach various trims and components such as ribbing for cuffs and waistbands, zippers, labels, and decorative elements with perfect alignment.
Perform specialized stitching operations like hemming, topstitching, and bar-tacking, maintaining consistent stitch quality and spacing.
Manage the proper handling of delicate and stretchy knit fabrics to prevent stretching, warping, or damage during the sewing process.
Conduct continuous in-process quality control checks on your own work, identifying and correcting any stitching errors, defects, or inconsistencies immediately.
Meet and exceed daily and weekly production targets and deadlines while upholding the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Perform routine daily maintenance on your assigned sewing machine, including cleaning, oiling, and changing needles, to ensure optimal performance.

Execute repairs and alterations on garments that do not meet quality standards, demonstrating problem-solving skills to fix construction issues.
Maintain accurate records of completed work and production numbers for tracking and payroll purposes.
Carefully fold and bundle finished garments as instructed, preparing them for the next stage of the production process, such as pressing or packaging.
