Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Independently design, plan, and meticulously execute complex scientific experiments and research projects to address key scientific questions and achieve project milestones.
  • Perform a wide range of sophisticated laboratory techniques, such as cell culture, molecular cloning, PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, and high-content imaging, with high precision.
  • Rigorously analyze and interpret complex experimental data using statistical tools and data visualization software, drawing scientifically sound conclusions.
  • Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues encountered during experimentation, and take the initiative to optimize existing assays and protocols for improved efficiency and robustness.
  • Meticulously document all experimental designs, procedures, raw data, and analytical findings in a detailed electronic or physical lab notebook to ensure data integrity, reproducibility, and IP protection.
  • Stay current with relevant scientific literature, new technologies, and methodologies to propose innovative research directions and incorporate state-of-the-art techniques into projects.
  • Prepare and deliver clear and compelling presentations of research findings to internal teams, project leaders, and at scientific conferences.
  • Author, co-author, and contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, as well as technical reports and regulatory documents.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate sophisticated laboratory instrumentation, ensuring equipment is functioning correctly and coordinating repairs or service as needed.
  • Develop and validate new analytical methods and experimental models to support ongoing and future research initiatives.
  • Apply a deep understanding of scientific principles to critically evaluate data and contribute to strategic decisions within the research program.
  • Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP where applicable) to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Manage and maintain stocks of critical reagents, cell lines, and laboratory consumables, ensuring proper inventory levels for uninterrupted research activities.
  • Train and mentor junior research associates, technicians, and interns on laboratory procedures, equipment operation, and data analysis best practices.
  • Generate, characterize, and bank essential biological reagents such as proteins, antibodies, and plasmids for use in various research applications.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and perform exploratory data analysis to answer urgent questions from cross-functional teams.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Molecular & Cellular Biology Techniques: Proficiency in PCR/qPCR, DNA/RNA isolation, cloning, Western Blotting, and ELISA is fundamental.
  • Aseptic Cell Culture: Extensive experience with mammalian cell line maintenance, transfection, cryopreservation, and cell-based assays.
  • Analytical Assays: Hands-on experience with developing and running analytical methods like flow cytometry, microscopy (confocal, fluorescence), or spectroscopy.
  • Data Analysis Software: Competency in using tools such as GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, ImageJ, and a working knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Experimental Design: The ability to design well-controlled experiments, understand variables, and interpret results within a biological context.

Educational Background
