Core Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, edging, and blowing to maintain a pristine appearance for lawns and turf areas.
- Execute detailed landscape installation projects, including the planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals according to design specifications.
- Apply mulch, decorative rock, and other ground covers to garden beds to enhance aesthetics, retain moisture, and suppress weed growth.
- Conduct seasonal clean-up operations, such as leaf removal in the fall and debris clearing in the spring, to prepare properties for the changing seasons.
- Safely and efficiently operate a variety of landscaping power equipment, including zero-turn mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and leaf blowers.
- Perform precise pruning and trimming of trees, shrubs, and hedges to promote healthy growth and maintain desired shapes and sizes.
- Assist in the installation and repair of irrigation systems, ensuring proper water distribution and conservation for all plant life.
- Execute hardscaping projects by assisting with the installation of patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other landscape features using pavers, stone, and block.
- Prepare and grade soil for new installations, ensuring proper drainage and optimal conditions for planting and sodding.
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in a safe and effective manner, following all company policies and state regulations to manage plant health and control pests.
- Monitor the health of plants and turf, identifying and reporting any signs of disease, insect infestation, or other potential issues to the crew leader.
- Perform regular watering of lawns, garden beds, and newly installed plants using hoses, sprinklers, or irrigation systems.
- Conduct manual weed control in planting beds and hardscape crevices to maintain a clean and well-kept appearance.
- Load and unload trucks with necessary tools, equipment, and materials such as soil, mulch, and plants for daily job site requirements.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, such as cleaning, sharpening blades, and checking fluid levels, to ensure operational readiness and safety.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for the crew and the public.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and successful project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site at all times, properly storing tools and materials and clearing debris throughout the workday.
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations during winter months, including plowing, shoveling, and applying de-icing agents to ensure safe access to properties.
- Provide excellent customer service by professionally interacting with clients on-site and addressing any minor questions or concerns, referring larger issues to the supervisor.
- Operate light to heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, and trenchers under supervision for larger-scale landscape construction projects.
- Install landscape lighting, water features, and other specialized elements according to plans and instructions.

- Proficient operation of commercial-grade landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers).
- Knowledge of regional plant species, their care requirements, and common pests/diseases.
- Experience with hardscape installation techniques (e.g., setting pavers, building small walls).

Educational Background
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range: 0-3 years
Preferred: 1+ years of demonstrated experience in a professional landscaping, groundskeeping, or similar role. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is often preferred or required.
