Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead and Mentor Design Teams: Guide, inspire, and mentor a team of UX/UI designers, fostering their professional growth, providing constructive feedback, and setting a high bar for design quality.

  • Manage and Evolve Design Systems: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and evolution of a comprehensive design system to ensure visual consistency, brand alignment, and efficient execution across all products and platforms.
  • Conduct and Synthesize User Research: Lead and participate in a variety of user research activities, including user interviews, usability testing, and surveys, to gather actionable insights that inform and validate design decisions.

  • Effective Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and other stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of user problems and to deliver cohesive, high-quality product experiences.
  • Articulate and Present Design Rationale: Clearly and persuasively communicate design concepts, user flows, and interaction models to a wide range of audiences, from the core project team to executive leadership.
  • Create Core Design Deliverables: Produce a full spectrum of UX artifacts, including user journey maps, personas, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate design solutions.
  • Balance Competing Priorities: Skillfully navigate and balance user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives to make informed decisions that lead to viable and effective solutions.
  • Drive a Culture of Design Excellence: Set clear goals and expectations for the design team, establishing processes and best practices that elevate the quality and impact of the team's work.

  • Own the Complete User Journey: Holistically analyze the entire user journey, identifying critical pain points, friction, and opportunities for delight and improvement.
  • Provide Design Leadership in Agile Environments: Act as the design authority within an agile development team, ensuring design integrity is maintained from concept through to release.
  • Develop Detailed Design Documentation: Create and maintain thorough UI specifications, interaction guidelines, and style guides to support the development team and ensure pixel-perfect implementation.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, demonstrable professional experience in the field of design.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 7-10+ years of professional experience in UX, UI, or Product Design for digital products.

Preferred:

  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates a mastery of user-centered design principles and a track record of shipping successful products.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience formally or informally leading design projects and mentoring junior or mid-level designers.
