Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Champion, lead, and facilitate Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping (VSM) workshops, and other Lean initiatives to drive rapid, tangible improvements in targeted areas.
- Analyze and map complex business processes, identifying bottlenecks, redundancies, and non-value-added activities to define opportunities for optimization.
- Develop and implement robust solutions using a wide array of Lean tools, including 5S, Standard Work, Poka-Yoke (error-proofing), Kanban, and Cellular Manufacturing.
- Act as a key project manager for continuous improvement initiatives, defining project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements, while ensuring successful execution and delivery of results.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to establish baseline performance metrics, quantify improvement opportunities, and validate the impact of implemented changes.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project charters and A3 reports to document problems, track progress, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.
- Train, coach, and mentor employees, supervisors, and management on Lean principles, methodologies, and tools to build a self-sustaining culture of continuous improvement.
- Design and optimize facility layouts, workflows, and material handling systems to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance ergonomic safety.
- Create and institutionalize Standard Work instructions, visual controls, and performance dashboards to ensure process stability and provide real-time feedback.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, engineering, and supply chain to ensure alignment and successful implementation of improvement projects.
- Conduct root cause analysis on complex operational and quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques like 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Fault Tree Analysis.
- Lead the implementation and management of a 5S program across the facility to create a clean, organized, and efficient workplace.
- Evaluate and justify capital expenditure proposals for new equipment or technology that supports Lean objectives and delivers a strong return on investment.
- Facilitate regular Gemba walks (go to the source) with leadership to observe processes, engage with front-line employees, and identify improvement opportunities firsthand.
- Develop and deliver formal training materials and workshops on various Lean and Six Sigma topics tailored to different audiences within the organization.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) processes by applying Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principles to ensure efficient and low-waste production from the start.
- Quantify and track the financial impact of continuous improvement projects, reporting on savings and performance gains to senior leadership.
- Serve as an internal consultant and subject matter expert on all matters related to Lean manufacturing and operational excellence.
- Drive the digital transformation of Lean processes by integrating smart factory technologies (IoT, data analytics) to enhance process monitoring and control.
- Foster a culture of employee engagement and empowerment by creating systems for suggestion programs and idea generation from the shop floor.
- Benchmark best practices both internally and externally to continuously challenge the status quo and introduce innovative solutions to the organization.
Secondary Functions
- Support the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team by integrating safety and ergonomic improvements into all process optimization projects.
- Assist the Quality Assurance department in developing and refining quality control plans and inspection criteria based on process capability studies (Cpk, Ppk).

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)

Experience Requirements
