Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Execute the assembly of components and sub-assemblies into finished products by carefully following detailed blueprints, schematics, and standardized work instructions.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools (such as drills, screw guns, wrenches, and soldering irons) with precision and a focus on safety.
  • Perform in-process quality checks and visual inspections on parts, sub-assemblies, and final products to identify any defects, scratches, or functional issues, ensuring adherence to strict quality standards.
  • Rotate through multiple stations on the assembly line as required, demonstrating flexibility and a broad understanding of the entire production process.
  • Maintain a consistent and efficient work pace to meet or exceed established production quotas and team goals without compromising quality or safety.
  • Responsible for the accurate setup, calibration, and minor adjustment of production equipment and machinery at your workstation to ensure optimal performance.
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor assembly process issues or equipment malfunctions, reporting complex problems to the team lead or maintenance department for resolution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by adhering to 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
  • Accurately complete and maintain production logs, quality control documentation, and inventory records for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Adhere rigorously to all company safety policies and procedures, including the consistent and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Handle, move, and position raw materials and components from staging areas to the assembly line, ensuring parts are available for continuous production.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and rulers to verify that component dimensions meet specified tolerances.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow and to resolve any production-related challenges.
  • Prepare finished products for subsequent manufacturing stages or for final shipment, which may include cleaning, testing, labeling, and packing.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions to enhance production processes, safety, and product quality.
  • Monitor the supply of components at your workstation and communicate with material handlers or supervisors to replenish stock and prevent line stoppages.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks on tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working order.
  • Inspect incoming materials and parts for conformity and quality before they are introduced into the assembly process.
  • Assist in cross-training other team members on various assembly tasks and procedures to build team versatility and skill.
  • Manage and sort finished and rejected parts, ensuring proper disposition and accurate accounting of all materials.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in the on-the-job training and mentoring of new assemblers, guiding them on standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
  • Participate actively in daily team huddles and departmental meetings to discuss production targets, safety alerts, and quality feedback.
  • Support periodic inventory counts and assist in organizing raw materials and components within the production area.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects by helping to test new tools, layouts, or assembly methods aimed at increasing efficiency and ergonomic safety.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency with Hand & Power Tools: Skilled in the safe and effective use of a wide range of assembly tools, including electric drills, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Blueprint and Schematic Reading: Ability to interpret and follow technical drawings, diagrams, and written work instructions to ensure accurate assembly.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: A strong, intuitive understanding of how mechanical systems and components work together.
  • Quality Control Inspection: Experience in performing visual and dimensional inspections to identify flaws, defects, or deviations from specifications.
  • Use of Measuring Instruments: Competency in using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and rulers to take precise measurements.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 0-2 years of experience in a related field.
