Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop and execute daily load plans that maximize trailer, container or shipment capacity while respecting delivery deadlines and operational constraints.
- Analyze cargo lists, weights, dimensions and priority levels to allocate freight efficiently and confirm safe transport configurations.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff, dispatch teams and drivers to ensure proper loading, scheduling and handling of freight.
- Use Transportation Management Systems (TMS), load planning software and ERP tools to optimize load builds and monitor shipment status.
- Monitor transit progress and shipment movement, identifying potential delays and proactively resolving logistical issues.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to load utilization, costs, on‑time delivery and service performance.
- Negotiate load assignments and carrier coverage to secure cost‑effective transportation services in line with contractual agreements.
- Communicate with internal teams and external partners to clarify load details, appointment requirements and route changes.
- Ensure all planned loads comply with transportation safety regulations, weight limits and hours‑of‑service rules.
- Review and adjust load plans due to changes in cargo, transit conditions or operational priorities.
