Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term logistics and supply chain strategy that aligns with the company's growth targets, customer expectations, and financial objectives.
- Hold full P&L responsibility for the logistics department, including budgeting, forecasting, and managing all transportation, warehousing, and associated operational expenses to achieve cost-saving targets.
- Direct and oversee the entire transportation network, including carrier selection, contract negotiation, rate management, and performance monitoring for all modes (FTL, LTL, parcel, ocean, air).
- Lead the strategic design and optimization of the distribution network, including the location, capacity, and functionality of warehouses and distribution centers to improve service levels and reduce costs.
- Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and professional development to the logistics and warehouse management teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Champion the selection, implementation, and continuous improvement of logistics technology systems, such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and ERP modules.
- Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for all logistics functions, such as on-time delivery, cost-per-unit, inventory accuracy, and order cycle time, using data to drive performance.
- Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with key third-party logistics (3PL) providers, carriers, and other vendors, conducting regular business reviews to ensure performance and value.
- Oversee all aspects of inventory control and management across the network, implementing policies and procedures to optimize inventory levels, minimize carrying costs, and ensure high accuracy.
- Ensure all logistics and transportation activities are in strict compliance with local, national, and international regulations, including customs, trade compliance, and transportation safety standards (e.g., DOT, IATA).
- Lead risk management initiatives within the supply chain, developing contingency plans to mitigate disruptions related to carrier capacity, geopolitical events, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma to enhance processes, eliminate waste, and increase efficiency in warehousing and transportation.
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership and heads of other departments (Sales, Finance, Manufacturing, Procurement) to ensure cohesive end-to-end supply chain planning and execution.
- Steer major contract negotiations and sourcing strategies for logistics services, ensuring favorable terms and establishing long-term, reliable partnerships.
- Direct and oversee inbound logistics operations, ensuring a smooth and predictable flow of raw materials and finished goods from suppliers to manufacturing plants or distribution centers.
- Develop and manage the final-mile delivery strategy, optimizing for customer experience, speed, and cost-effectiveness in a competitive market.
