Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Direct and oversee all inbound and outbound shipping activities, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and condition of all shipments in a high-volume environment.
  • Assume full P&L responsibility for the logistics center, including developing and managing annual budgets, forecasting expenses, and implementing cost-control measures to achieve financial targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of supervisors, leads, and hourly associates, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work culture.
  • Champion a world-class safety program, ensuring strict compliance with all OSHA and company safety regulations to maintain a zero-incident workplace.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, quality, and service levels, such as on-time shipping, order accuracy, and cost-per-unit.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage all aspects of inventory control, including cycle counting, physical inventories, and discrepancy resolution, to ensure high levels of inventory accuracy and system integrity.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of the facility, including all material handling equipment (MHE), racking, and warehouse systems to ensure operational readiness and safety.
  • Master and optimize the use of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other logistics software to manage workflow, track inventory, and generate performance reports.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with transportation carriers and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to negotiate rates, ensure service levels, and manage performance.
  • Guarantee that all operations meet and exceed customer expectations for order fulfillment, quality, and timeliness, directly impacting customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Plan and manage labor resources effectively, including staffing forecasts, scheduling, and performance management to align with fluctuating volume and business needs.
  • Develop and execute strategic operational plans that align with the company's broader business objectives and supply chain strategy.
  • Ensure the security of the facility, its personnel, and all company assets by implementing and enforcing robust security protocols and procedures.
  • Lead the implementation of new technologies, automation, and process changes, managing the project from conception to successful integration.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, such as Purchasing, Customer Service, and Sales, to ensure seamless coordination and resolve any cross-functional issues.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and create development plans for direct reports to build a strong leadership pipeline.
  • Manage reverse logistics processes, overseeing the efficient handling of customer returns to maximize value recovery and minimize waste.
  • Prepare and present regular, detailed reports on operational performance, financial results, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements, including transportation regulations and environmental standards, to mitigate risk.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Deep expertise in operating and optimizing systems like SAP EWM, Oracle WMS, Manhattan, or similar tier-1 platforms.
  • P&L Management: Proven ability to create, manage, and analyze a facility's budget and financial performance.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Methodologies: Certification or practical experience in applying continuous improvement principles to eliminate waste and improve processes.
  • Inventory Control & Management: Mastery of inventory control techniques, including cycle counting, ABC analysis, and root cause investigation.
  • OSHA & Safety Compliance: In-depth knowledge of federal and state workplace safety regulations and experience implementing robust safety programs.

  • Logistics & Supply Chain Principles: A comprehensive understanding of end-to-end supply chain functions, including procurement, warehousing, and transportation.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
