Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Meticulously receive, unload, and inspect all incoming materials and finished goods, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders and packing lists to ensure accuracy.
  • Execute the complete order fulfillment process, including accurately picking, packing, staging, and preparing products for shipment according to customer specifications and company standards.
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers, in a safe and efficient manner to move inventory and load/unload trucks.
  • Maintain precise inventory records by utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP software to process transactions, track product movement, and manage stock locations.
  • Diligently perform regular cycle counts and participate in full physical inventory audits to ensure system data aligns with on-hand stock, investigating and resolving any discrepancies found.
  • Generate, verify, and affix all necessary shipping documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading (BOL), commercial invoices, and carrier-specific shipping labels.
  • Coordinate directly with freight carriers, couriers, and transportation partners to schedule pickups and track outbound shipments, ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Handle and process customer returns (reverse logistics), inspecting returned goods, documenting their condition, and routing them for restocking, repair, or disposal.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all workplace safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and company policies, actively promoting a culture of safety within the warehouse environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area, implementing 5S or similar organizational principles to improve efficiency and reduce potential hazards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve logistical issues, such as shipping delays, damaged goods, or incorrect orders, by collaborating with customer service and other internal teams.
  • Utilize RF (Radio Frequency) scanners and other handheld electronic devices to accurately track inventory movement, confirm picks, and update system records in real-time.
  • Prepare and assemble kits or perform light value-added services on products prior to shipment, based on specific work orders or customer requirements.
  • Monitor and manage the inventory of shipping supplies, such as boxes, tape, and dunnage, and notify supervisors when reordering is necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, including Sales, Customer Service, and Production, to provide updates on order status and inventory availability.
  • Carefully package items to prevent damage during transit, selecting appropriate packaging materials and methods based on the product's size, weight, and fragility.
  • Assist in the documentation and filing of freight claims for goods damaged or lost during transportation, providing all required information to support the claim.
  • Load outbound trailers and containers securely and efficiently, ensuring proper weight distribution and compliance with transportation regulations.

Secondary Functions

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and suggesting enhancements to current logistics processes, workflows, and warehouse layouts.
  • Assist in training new team members on standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and the proper use of equipment and software.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss operational goals, challenges, and performance metrics.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance checks on material handling equipment to ensure it remains in good working order.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Proficiency in using WMS software to manage inventory, process orders, and track shipments.
  • Forklift Operation: Certified and experienced in safely operating various types of forklifts and other powered industrial trucks.
  • Inventory Control Management: Strong understanding of inventory principles, including cycle counting, stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO), and discrepancy resolution.
  • Shipping & Receiving Processes: In-depth knowledge of the end-to-end procedures for both inbound and outbound logistics.
    -RF Scanner Proficiency: Skilled in using radio frequency scanners for accurate, real-time data capture and transaction processing.
  • ERP Software Familiarity: Experience with enterprise resource planning systems (like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) for logistics-related modules.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Awareness of transportation regulations, including DOT and IATA, especially if handling hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
