Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Greet guests warmly and graciously upon arrival, escorting them to their tables and making them feel instantly welcome and attended to.
  • Present menus in a professional manner, providing detailed information on food items, wine selections, and cocktail ingredients to guide guest choices.
  • Make personalized recommendations and suggestions based on guest preferences, expertly upselling premium spirits, wine pairings, and signature dishes.
  • Accurately and efficiently take food and beverage orders and enter them into the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, ensuring all special requests and dietary restrictions are clearly communicated to the kitchen and bar.
  • Prepare and serve a range of beverages, including classic cocktails, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Deliver food and beverage orders from the kitchen and bar to guests in a timely and organized manner, ensuring accuracy and optimal temperature.
  • Maintain a constant and unobtrusive presence in the lounge area, monitoring tables to anticipate guest needs such as drink refills, additional orders, or clearing plates.
  • Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in all guest areas, including tables, chairs, and service stations, throughout the shift.
  • Process all guest payments accurately, handling cash, credit card, and room charge transactions with discretion and efficiency.
  • Build a strong rapport with guests, remembering repeat customers and their preferences to provide a highly personalized service experience.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally, resolving any issues to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
  • Work collaboratively with bartenders, kitchen staff, and hosts to create a smooth and efficient service flow for all guests.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all lounge promotions, special events, and menu changes to effectively inform guests.
  • Adhere strictly to all responsible alcohol service procedures and regulations, identifying and addressing signs of intoxication discreetly.
  • Set up and break down service stations before and after shifts, ensuring all supplies are stocked and the environment is pristine.
  • Polish glassware and silverware to maintain a spotless and high-end appearance for all service items.
  • Assist in maintaining the overall ambiance of the lounge, including adjusting lighting and music levels as directed by management.
  • Communicate effectively with the management team, reporting any guest feedback, operational issues, or supply shortages.
  • Uphold a polished and professional appearance and demeanor at all times, reflecting the sophisticated standards of the establishment.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in conducting monthly and weekly inventory counts of beverages, glassware, and other essential lounge supplies.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings to review reservations, daily specials, and service priorities with the team.
  • Contribute to the training and mentoring of new servers or server assistants, sharing knowledge of menu items and service standards.
  • Support the bar team during peak periods by assisting with basic drink preparation, garnishing, or restocking.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • POS System Proficiency: Experience operating Point-of-Sale systems such as Toast, Micros, or Aloha for order entry and payment processing.
  • Mixology & Beverage Knowledge: Strong understanding of classic cocktails, spirits, liqueurs, beer, and wine varietals.
  • Food & Wine Pairing: Ability to recommend appropriate wine and beverage pairings to complement culinary dishes.
  • Tray Service: Skilled in carrying and serving multiple plates and drinks on a service tray with stability and grace.
  • Responsible Beverage Service: Certification (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol) and knowledge of local laws regarding alcohol service.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 1-3 years of serving experience.
