Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Safely and proficiently operate a Lube/Fuel truck to navigate construction, quarry, or mine sites and access various pieces of heavy equipment.
- Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance (PM) services at specified intervals on equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, haul trucks, and graders.
- Execute complete oil and fluid changes, including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and differential systems, according to manufacturer specifications.
- Systematically grease all lubrication points on machinery, ensuring proper lubricant application and complete coverage of all fittings.
- Change all associated filters, including oil, fuel, hydraulic, and air filters, ensuring correct part usage and proper installation.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections on the lube truck to ensure it is safe, compliant, and operationally ready.
- Maintain precise and detailed records of all services performed, parts used, and fluid consumption for each piece of equipment, using digital software or paper logs.
- Manage and maintain the inventory of lubricants, filters, and other essential parts stocked on the service truck, and communicate needs for re-stocking.
- Perform visual inspections of machinery during service to identify potential issues such as leaks, worn components, or visible damage, and report findings to the maintenance supervisor.
- Collect and properly label oil samples from various compartments for laboratory analysis as part of a predictive maintenance program.
- Ensure all fluid levels (coolant, DEF, washer fluid, etc.) are checked and topped off during every service interval.
- Adhere strictly to all company, client, and regulatory (MSHA, OSHA) safety policies and procedures at all times.
Secondary Functions
- Support ad-hoc service calls in the field to address immediate lubrication or minor repair needs.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment, both on the job site and within the lube truck itself.
- Collaborate with the maintenance planning team to optimize service routes and schedules for maximum efficiency.
- Assist heavy equipment mechanics with minor repairs and component change-outs when required.
- Participate actively in daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Properly handle, transfer, and document waste products such as used oil, filters, and coolants in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose minor issues with the lube truck's dispensing equipment, including pumps, reels, and meters.
- Communicate effectively with equipment operators and site supervisors regarding service status and equipment availability.
- Provide input on improving preventative maintenance procedures and checklists based on field observations.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- CDL License: Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements is often required.
- Heavy Equipment Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy machinery components, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and power trains.
- Preventative Maintenance: Proven experience performing PM services, oil changes, and comprehensive lubrication on heavy equipment.
- Fluid Management: Knowledge of various types of oils, greases, and coolants and their specific applications.
- Basic Diagnostics: Ability to identify and report on common mechanical issues, leaks, and wear points.
- MSHA/OSHA Certification: Current MSHA Part 46 or 48 certification is highly preferred for mining roles; OSHA 10/30 for construction.
- Record Keeping: Proficiency in accurately completing service logs, work orders, and using maintenance software.
- Lube Truck Operation: Experience operating on-board dispensing systems, including pumps, meters, and hose reels.

Educational Background
Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
