Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement through regular coaching and performance management.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign daily and weekly work orders for the maintenance team, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely completion of both corrective and preventive tasks.
  • Develop, implement, and refine a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) program for all facility assets, utilizing a CMMS to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Act as the primary technical expert for troubleshooting and diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production machinery and building systems.
  • Champion and enforce strict adherence to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and proper use of PPE, ensuring a safe working environment for the team.
  • Manage and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure accurate tracking of work orders, asset history, labor hours, and spare parts inventory.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, installations, or projects, ensuring they adhere to company safety and quality standards.
  • Assist in developing and managing the maintenance department budget, diligently tracking expenditures and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for team members, providing constructive feedback and creating individualized development plans to enhance their technical skills and career growth.
  • Lead formal root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for significant equipment failures and recurring issues, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Manage the critical spare parts inventory, overseeing procurement, organization, and issuance to minimize equipment downtime while maintaining cost control and optimal stock levels.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department, such as 5S, Kaizen events, and lean manufacturing principles, to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality assurance departments to strategically schedule maintenance activities that minimize disruption to operational schedules.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on key maintenance metrics, including Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), PM compliance, and budget adherence.
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment, ensuring it meets all operational and safety specifications before formal handover to the production team.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex industrial systems, including mechanical, electrical (up to 480V), hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • CMMS Proficiency: High level of proficiency with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Fiix) for work order management, asset tracking, and reporting.
  • Preventive/Predictive Maintenance: Strong knowledge of Preventive Maintenance (PM) program development and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) technologies like vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and oil analysis.
    -Technical Documentation: Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical documents, including blueprints, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • PLC & Automation: Foundational knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics on automated systems.
  • Safety & Compliance: In-depth understanding and practical application of OSHA regulations, LOTO procedures, NFPA 70E (Arc Flash), and other industrial safety standards.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

5-8 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment, including at least 2-3 years in a formal or informal leadership capacity (e.g., Lead Technician, Shift Lead).

Preferred:

  • Experience in a 24/7 operational setting.
  • Direct experience implementing or significantly improving a preventive maintenance program.
  • Certification such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) is a strong plus.
