Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct personalized, one-on-one client consultations to identify their unique beauty needs, assess skin type, tone, and facial structure, and recommend a tailored regimen of cosmetic and skincare products.
  • Provide expert makeup applications for various occasions, from everyday looks to special events, demonstrating proper techniques and artistry that align with both client desires and brand aesthetics.
  • Drive sales performance by achieving and exceeding individual sales targets, and contribute to meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as average transaction value and items per transaction.
  • Cultivate and maintain a strong client base through proactive clienteling, including follow-up communications, appointment booking, and notifying clients of new products and promotional events.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, embodying the brand's image and values while maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of all product lines, including ingredients, benefits, and application methods.
  • Educate clients on makeup application techniques, skincare routines, and the benefits of specific products, empowering them to replicate their desired look at home.
  • Execute flawless and engaging product demonstrations on the sales floor to attract and engage potential customers, showcasing new arrivals, bestsellers, and signature application styles.
  • Stay current with the latest beauty trends, industry innovations, and competitor activities to provide relevant and modern advice to clients.
  • Plan and execute in-store events, masterclasses, and workshops to drive traffic, increase brand awareness, and boost sales.
  • Maintain impeccable hygiene and sanitation standards at all times, ensuring all testers, brushes, and makeup stations are clean and organized according to health and brand guidelines.
  • Listen actively to customer feedback regarding products and services and report insights to management to contribute to brand improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage point-of-sale transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit card payments, and processing returns or exchanges.
  • Introduce clients to complementary products across different categories (e.g., skincare, fragrance) to provide a holistic beauty solution and increase sales.
  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with colleagues, store management, and brand representatives to create a collaborative and positive team environment.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist with visual merchandising, ensuring the counter is aesthetically pleasing, well-stocked, and compliant with brand directives and standards.
  • Participate in regular inventory counts and help manage stock levels, communicating product shortages or overages to the counter manager.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in team meetings and training sessions to continuously develop product knowledge and sales skills.
  • Support the onboarding and informal coaching of new team members by sharing best practices and product information.
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and organized work environment, including personal grooming and appearance that aligns with brand standards.
  • Manage and resolve customer service issues with professionalism and empathy, escalating to management when necessary to ensure a positive resolution.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 1-3 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within retail or sales.

Preferred: Previous experience as a makeup artist or beauty advisor in the cosmetics industry, especially with a luxury or artist-focused brand. A portfolio demonstrating a range of makeup application skills is highly desirable.
