Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively engage with all customers entering the dealership, establishing a welcoming and professional atmosphere to initiate the sales process.
  • Conduct in-depth needs assessments and qualification conversations to fully understand a customer's boating desires, experience level, and budget.
  • Develop and maintain an encyclopedic knowledge of the dealership's full line of new and pre-owned boat models, including features, benefits, and competitive differences.
  • Present and demonstrate vessels in a compelling manner, conducting thorough walk-throughs on land and performing professional sea trials on the water.
  • Master and consistently execute the dealership's defined sales process from initial contact to post-sale follow-up to ensure a consistent customer experience.
  • Actively generate new leads through prospecting, networking, and participating in off-site events like boat shows, fishing tournaments, and community functions.
  • Diligently manage a customer database using CRM software, logging all interactions, scheduling follow-ups, and tracking progress through the sales pipeline.
  • Skillfully guide customers through the process of valuing and processing their trade-in vessel, coordinating with the service department for inspections.
  • Structure and present sales proposals, negotiate pricing and terms within established guidelines, and effectively close sales to meet or exceed monthly and annual targets.
  • Collaborate with the Finance & Insurance (F&I) department to seamlessly transition customers and ensure they receive comprehensive financing and protection options.
  • Oversee the final delivery and orientation process, ensuring the boat is perfectly detailed and ready, and providing the customer with a thorough on-water handover.
  • Cultivate long-term customer relationships through systematic post-sale follow-up, encouraging repeat business and generating valuable referrals.
  • Maintain a professional and appealing sales environment, ensuring the showroom, sales lot, and all displayed inventory are clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Continuously enhance personal knowledge of marine technology, including engines, navigation systems, and onboard electronics, to serve as a credible expert.
  • Assist customers in selecting appropriate marine accessories, parts, and gear to complement their new boat purchase.
  • Professionally handle and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and objections throughout the sales cycle with patience and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Prepare and manage all necessary sales documentation, including purchase agreements, financing applications, and title/registration paperwork, with high accuracy.
  • Participate actively in sales meetings and training sessions to sharpen skills, share market insights, and contribute to team strategy.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards, representing the dealership with the highest level of integrity.
