Core Responsibilities
As a key member of our creative workshop, your days will be varied, challenging, and incredibly rewarding.
Primary Functions
- Conceptualize, design, and construct highly detailed, structurally sound, large-scale LEGO models for display in attractions and at special events.
- Develop and build animated, mechanical, and interactive LEGO models, incorporating motors, lights, and sound components to bring them to life.
- Interpret 2D and 3D design plans, sketches, and computer-generated files to create accurate and compelling physical models.
- Act as a key creative force in brainstorming sessions, contributing innovative ideas for new models, scenes, and themed experiences.
- Execute the intricate and permanent gluing of models using specialized solvents to ensure they are durable and safe for public display and transportation.
- Perform detailed quality control checks on all completed models to ensure they meet strict brand standards and design specifications.
- Serve as a charismatic brand ambassador during media interviews, public appearances, and live building demonstrations, sharing your passion with the world.
- Lead and facilitate engaging LEGO building workshops and masterclasses for guests of all ages, inspiring the next generation of builders.
- Manage and execute the repair, cleaning, and maintenance schedule for all existing LEGO models within the attraction to keep them in pristine condition.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including marketing, operations, and project managers, to ensure model-related projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Travel to various sites for the expert installation of new models and exhibits, which may include working at heights or in unique environments.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for model builds, including step-by-step instructions, brick lists, and design notes for future reference.
- Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to junior model builders, fostering a collaborative and skill-sharing workshop environment.
- Research and implement new and advanced building techniques, continuously pushing the boundaries of what is possible with LEGO bricks.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health and safety protocols, including the proper use of workshop tools, equipment, and chemical adhesives.
- Manage the inventory of LEGO elements, forecasting brick needs for upcoming projects and placing orders to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Design and fabricate custom support structures and armatures required for large or complex models to ensure long-term stability and integrity.
- Participate in the careful teardown and expert crating of models for shipping or storage, ensuring their protection during transit.
