Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fleet management strategy, encompassing vehicle acquisition, lifecycle planning, and timely disposal to optimize total cost of ownership and ensure the fleet meets organizational needs.
- Oversee and direct a rigorous preventative maintenance program, scheduling regular servicing, inspections, and repairs to minimize vehicle downtime, ensure vehicle safety, and extend asset longevity.
- Manage the entire fleet budget, including forecasting expenses, tracking expenditures for fuel, maintenance, and repairs, and identifying opportunities for significant cost savings.
- Ensure strict compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, as well as federal, state, and local laws governing vehicle operation, licensing, and environmental standards.
- Lead the vehicle procurement and leasing process, negotiating with vendors and manufacturers to secure favorable terms and spec'ing vehicles that align with operational requirements.
- Implement, manage, and analyze data from telematics and fleet management software to monitor driver behavior, track vehicle location, optimize routes, and improve overall fuel efficiency.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate a team of drivers and maintenance personnel, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance.
- Develop, implement, and enforce company-wide fleet policies and procedures, including vehicle assignment, personal use, accident reporting, and safety protocols.
