Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Plan, organize, and direct the daily operations of assigned municipal divisions, such as public works, streets, sanitation, parks, or water/sewer, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

  • Respond to and resolve complex inquiries, concerns, and complaints from residents, business owners, and other stakeholders with professionalism and a commitment to customer service.
  • Enforce all applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations, including OSHA safety standards, to maintain a compliant and secure operational environment.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of external contractors and vendors, ensuring their performance meets contractual obligations, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
  • Manage the procurement of necessary materials, equipment, and supplies, maintaining adequate inventory levels and ensuring proper storage and maintenance of municipal assets.
  • Develop and maintain detailed records, logs, and reports related to daily activities, personnel, equipment usage, project status, and resource allocation for management review.
  • Lead and coordinate emergency response efforts for events such as snow and ice storms, flooding, or other public emergencies, directing crew deployment and resource mobilization, often outside of normal work hours.
  • Participate in the short-term and long-range planning for infrastructure maintenance and capital improvement projects, providing technical input and operational perspective to engineers and planners.
  • Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs for municipal vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure to extend asset life, ensure reliability, and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate effectively with other municipal departments, engineers, and administrative staff to ensure seamless coordination on inter-departmental projects and community-wide initiatives.
  • Champion a culture of safety by conducting regular safety meetings (tailgate talks), providing ongoing training, investigating accidents, and implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
