Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Perform comprehensive floor care duties, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming all carpeted, tile, and hardwood surfaces to remove dirt and debris.
  • Thoroughly clean, sanitize, and disinfect all restrooms, including toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and floors, while restocking paper products and soap dispensers.
  • Collect and dispose of all trash, compost, and recyclables from offices, common areas, and exterior receptacles, replacing liners as needed.

  • Dust and wipe down all horizontal and vertical surfaces, such as desks, countertops, windowsills, file cabinets, and other office furniture.
  • Clean all interior glass, including windows, glass partitions, and doors, ensuring a streak-free and professional appearance.
  • Safely operate and maintain commercial cleaning equipment, such as automatic floor scrubbers, high-speed buffers, carpet extractors, and pressure washers.
  • Properly dilute, mix, use, and store a variety of cleaning chemicals and solutions in strict accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and company policies.
  • Execute periodic deep-cleaning projects as scheduled, which may include stripping and waxing floors, deep-cleaning carpets, and high dusting of vents and light fixtures.
  • Sanitize kitchenettes and break room areas, including cleaning microwaves, coffee makers, refrigerator exteriors, sinks, and countertops.
  • Routinely disinfect all high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs, light switches, elevator buttons, handrails, and entry-system keypads to prevent germ transmission.
  • Ensure all assigned areas are cleaned and maintained according to the established cleaning checklist and quality standards within the allotted time frame.
  • Secure the facility at the end of the shift, ensuring all lights are turned off, windows are closed, and all entry/exit doors are locked and alarmed.
  • Clean and maintain the cleanliness of common areas, including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, and elevators, ensuring they are presentable and free of hazards.
  • Respond to and clean up spills and other bio-hazardous materials in a timely and safe manner, using appropriate equipment and procedures.
  • Polish metalwork, such as brass and stainless steel fixtures, to maintain a high-quality appearance.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of exterior entryways, including sweeping walkways and cleaning entrance mats.

Secondary Functions

  • Identify, document, and report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, property damage, or pest-related concerns to the Facilities Supervisor.
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, paper goods, and equipment, and submit requests for new orders to ensure adequate stock.
  • Maintain a daily logbook or digital record of completed tasks, areas serviced, and any unusual occurrences or observations during the shift.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for meetings, conferences, or special events as directed by management.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficient knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, materials, and safety protocols.
  • Experience operating and performing basic maintenance on industrial cleaning equipment (e.g., floor buffers, auto-scrubbers, carpet extractors).
  • Strong understanding of chemical handling, dilution ratios, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) interpretation.
  • Physical stamina and strength, with the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and be on your feet for an entire shift.
  • Knowledge of proper waste disposal, recycling, and composting procedures.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs or maintenance tasks, such as changing lightbulbs or reporting plumbing issues.
