Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Direct and oversee all operational activities and workflows during the night shift to ensure production, service, and efficiency targets are consistently met.
  • Provide robust leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the night shift team, actively fostering a motivated, collaborative, and accountable work culture.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, offering constructive, real-time feedback and conducting formal performance reviews to support employee development.
  • Serve as the on-site authority for all safety and security protocols, ensuring strict adherence to company policies and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA) to maintain a hazard-free workplace.
  • Act as the first responder and primary decision-maker for any emergencies, security breaches, or operational disruptions, executing established incident response plans with composure.
  • Intelligently delegate tasks and responsibilities among staff, ensuring workloads are balanced, all critical functions are covered, and operational goals are achieved.
  • Prepare and disseminate comprehensive end-of-shift reports that detail key performance indicators, personnel issues, completed tasks, and critical information for a smooth handover to the incoming day shift management.
  • Address and resolve escalated employee or customer issues with professionalism and tact, aiming for satisfactory and final resolutions.
  • Champion and conduct on-the-job training for new and existing night shift personnel, ensuring they are proficient in their duties, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain the physical security of the facility by managing closing and opening procedures, monitoring access points, and conducting regular security patrols.
  • Uphold and enforce stringent quality control standards, performing regular checks and audits to ensure that all products or services meet or exceed company benchmarks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve immediate operational and equipment-related problems, performing minor adjustments or coordinating with on-call maintenance personnel for more significant issues.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication channels with day-shift counterparts and other departments to ensure operational continuity and alignment.
  • Manage employee scheduling for the night shift, including the approval of time-off requests and arranging coverage for call-outs to prevent disruptions.
  • Oversee the receiving and dispatching of goods, materials, or shipments, verifying that all associated documentation is accurate and processes are followed meticulously.

Secondary Functions

  • Conduct regular inventory counts of supplies, tools, and products, placing orders as necessary to prevent stock-outs and support continuous operations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new operational processes and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and safety.

  • Inventory Management Systems: Experience with software used for tracking inventory, processing orders, and managing stock levels.
    -Health & Safety Regulations (OSHA/HACCP): Deep understanding of workplace safety standards and the ability to implement and enforce them effectively.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook): Competency in creating reports, tracking data, writing shift summaries, and professional communication.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification: Certified or willing to become certified to handle initial medical incidents on-site.
  • Security System Operation: Familiarity with monitoring surveillance cameras (CCTV) and managing building access control systems.
