Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor and operate advanced surveillance equipment, including CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and access control panels, to diligently observe and report any suspicious activities or security breaches.
- Respond promptly and professionally to all security alarms and emergency situations, such as fire, medical emergencies, or unauthorized access, following established protocols and procedures.
- Provide a strong, visible security presence to deter criminal activity and misconduct, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all personnel, visitors, and property.
- Author detailed and accurate daily activity logs, comprehensive incident reports, and other necessary documentation regarding all security-related activities, observations, and incidents.
- Control and monitor access to the facility during night hours, meticulously verifying identification, issuing visitor badges, and maintaining precise logs of all individuals entering and exiting the premises.
- Perform comprehensive security checks of the building and grounds at the beginning and end of each shift, securing all entry and exit points and verifying the operational readiness of all security systems.
- Act as the primary point of contact and first responder for all after-hours emergencies, effectively coordinating with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services as required.
- Enforce all company policies and property rules consistently, addressing any violations in a firm but courteous manner and reporting non-compliance to the appropriate management.
- Conduct routine safety inspections to identify and report potential hazards, such as fire risks, blocked emergency exits, or malfunctioning equipment, to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Escort employees and visitors to their vehicles upon request to ensure their personal safety and provide peace of mind during late-night hours.
- Manage and distribute keys and access cards according to strict security protocols, maintaining an accurate inventory and log of all issued and returned items.
- Operate and monitor critical building control systems, including HVAC and lighting, to ensure energy efficiency and proper functioning during off-peak hours, reporting any anomalies.
- Receive and professionally handle after-hours phone calls and communications, directing them to the appropriate on-call personnel or taking detailed messages as necessary.
- Assist in emergency evacuation procedures by directing personnel to safety, conducting area sweeps, and ensuring all zones are cleared in an orderly and efficient fashion.
- Investigate and document initial findings for incidents of theft, vandalism, or other policy violations, gathering preliminary evidence and preparing comprehensive reports for management and law enforcement.
- Provide immediate First Aid or CPR in medical emergencies until professional medical assistance arrives, maintaining composure and control of the situation at all times.
- Maintain the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality, representing the organization as a trustworthy and capable security professional.
- Proactively check for and report any maintenance issues, such as water leaks, power outages, or broken fixtures, to the on-call facilities personnel for timely resolution.
- Liaise effectively with cleaning crews and other overnight contractors, ensuring they adhere to all security procedures and have authorized access only to designated areas.
- Utilize proven de-escalation techniques to peacefully resolve conflicts or disputes that may arise among staff or visitors during the night shift.
- Conduct regular, documented tests of security, fire, and panic alarm systems to ensure they are fully operational, reporting any faults or malfunctions immediately.
Secondary Functions
- Assist facilities management with minor after-hours tasks and report maintenance issues like leaks or power failures.
- Liaise with overnight cleaning crews and contractors, ensuring they adhere to security protocols.
- Manage after-hours communications, including answering phones and directing urgent calls.
- Support the opening and closing procedures for the facility, ensuring all systems are armed or disarmed as required.
