Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Analyze, design, and continuously optimize clinical workflows in collaboration with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to improve efficiency, patient safety, and user satisfaction with the EHR.
  • Serve as a primary liaison and translator between clinical end-users and the IT department, effectively converting complex clinical requirements into detailed technical specifications for system development and configuration.

  • Act as a subject matter expert and super-user for clinical applications, providing advanced troubleshooting and real-time guidance to front-line staff during system upgrades, go-lives, and daily operations.
  • Champion data integrity and governance by developing and enforcing standards for clinical documentation, ensuring data is accurate, reliable, and structured for robust reporting and analytics.
  • Evaluate the impact of new technologies, system upgrades, and evolving regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CMS) on clinical practice, recommending necessary adjustments to workflows and system configurations.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary project teams and governance committees focused on clinical informatics initiatives, ensuring clear communication, stakeholder buy-in, and alignment with organizational strategic goals.
  • Design, build, and validate clinical decision support (CDS) tools, alerts, order sets, and documentation templates within the EHR to promote evidence-based practice and improve patient outcomes.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis and generate actionable reports from clinical systems to support quality improvement projects, nursing research, operational decision-making, and performance dashboards.
  • Manage the resolution of user-reported issues and help desk tickets related to clinical applications, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve system stability and performance.
