Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments by evaluating clients' health status, metabolic needs, lifestyle, dietary restrictions, and wellness objectives.
  • Develop highly personalized and evidence-based nutrition and meal plans that align with clients' specific goals, such as weight management, disease prevention, or athletic performance enhancement.

  • Maintain impeccable, confidential client records, including detailed dietary histories, anthropometric data, counseling notes, and progress reports within an EHR or similar system.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific research, emerging trends, and best practices in the fields of nutrition, dietetics, and functional medicine.
  • Design and deliver engaging educational materials, workshops, and presentations on various nutrition topics for clients, staff, and the wider community.
  • Translate complex scientific information about nutrition and food into simple, understandable, and actionable advice for clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Provide expert guidance on grocery shopping, meal preparation, and interpreting food labels to empower clients in their everyday food choices.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns with empathy, professionalism, and expert knowledge, building trust and strengthening the client-planner relationship.
  • Utilize specialized meal planning and nutritional analysis software (e.g., NutriAdmin, EatLove, Cronometer) to create and refine dietary interventions.
  • Interpret and integrate biochemical data, such as lab results, into the formulation of targeted medical nutrition therapy strategies.
  • Design, implement, and manage specialized nutrition programs, including therapeutic diets for conditions like diabetes, IBD, celiac disease, and food allergies.

Secondary Functions

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Completion of a supervised practice program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • State licensure as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LD/LDN), where applicable.
