Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for all nutrition programs, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, goals, and community needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate innovative, evidence-based nutrition programs and services that address health disparities and improve client outcomes.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management for the nutrition department, including developing and managing annual budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

  • Establish and maintain robust quality assurance systems to monitor program effectiveness, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and drive continuous program improvement.
  • Ensure all nutrition programs operate in strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including standards for programs like WIC, CACFP, or other government-funded initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong strategic partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to enhance service delivery and collaboration.
  • Serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert on nutrition, representing the organization in public forums, on coalitions, and with the media.
  • Oversee the development, review, and implementation of culturally competent nutrition education curricula and materials for various target populations.
  • Direct the collection, analysis, and interpretation of program data to assess impact, inform strategic decisions, and prepare comprehensive reports for leadership, funders, and the board of directors.
  • Develop and enforce departmental policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations, high-quality service delivery, and a positive client experience.
  • Lead community needs assessments to identify emerging trends, service gaps, and opportunities for program expansion or modification.
  • Manage contracts and relationships with vendors, including food suppliers and technology providers, to ensure cost-effective and high-quality procurement.
  • Advocate for policies and environmental changes that promote food security and improved nutrition at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Oversee the operational logistics of multiple program sites or service delivery models, ensuring consistency and quality across all locations.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
