Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive and systematic literature reviews on a wide range of nutrition science topics to identify research gaps and support new product development and innovation pipelines.
  • Design, plan, and contribute to the management of human clinical trials and observational studies aimed at evaluating the safety and efficacy of nutritional interventions, ingredients, or dietary patterns.
  • Perform advanced statistical analysis on complex datasets derived from clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and large-scale health surveys using software such as SAS, R, or SPSS.
  • Author and prepare detailed scientific reports, technical summaries, and manuscripts for publication in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Develop and validate data collection instruments, including food frequency questionnaires (FFQs), 24-hour dietary recalls, and other tools for accurately assessing dietary intake and nutritional status.
  • Translate complex scientific research and statistical results into clear, concise, and actionable insights for non-scientific stakeholders, including marketing, legal, and product development teams.
  • Maintain a deep and current knowledge of emerging scientific research, industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes within the global nutrition and food science landscape.
  • Ensure all research activities are conducted in strict compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, IRB requirements, and other relevant ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Manage, clean, and maintain large-scale nutritional and clinical databases, implementing quality control procedures to ensure the highest levels of data integrity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide robust scientific substantiation for new and existing product health claims, packaging information, and marketing materials.
  • Develop and deliver compelling scientific presentations and abstracts for internal meetings, external advisory boards, and major national or international scientific conferences.
  • Assist in writing and securing grant proposals or research funding by providing preliminary data, background research, and methodological expertise.
  • Analyze data from dietary intake databases (e.g., NHANES, USDA FoodData Central) to understand population-level nutritional patterns and inform public health strategy or product formulation.
  • Evaluate the scientific merit of third-party research, new ingredients, and competitor products to inform business strategy and competitive positioning.
  • Create and maintain internal scientific dossiers and documentation libraries to support product registration, health claims, and regulatory submissions.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on human nutrition, dietetics, and research methodology, providing guidance and education to colleagues across the organization.
