Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute photo shoots for a wide range of projects, including but not limited to product photography, marketing campaigns, corporate headshots, editorial features, and event coverage.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, art directors, stylists, and marketing teams to understand project goals, creative vision, and specific image requirements.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of professional digital cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, and other specialized photographic technology.
  • Set up and manage complex lighting arrangements both in-studio and on-location to achieve the desired mood, tone, and quality for each shot.
  • Direct subjects, including professional models and corporate staff, to capture authentic expressions and poses that align with the project's creative brief.
  • Perform advanced post-production work, including color correction, retouching, compositing, and image manipulation using industry-standard software to enhance images to a professional standard.
  • Manage the end-to-end workflow of a photoshoot, from pre-production planning and scheduling to the final delivery of assets, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Curate and select the strongest images from a shoot to present to clients or stakeholders for review and final selection.
  • Ensure all photography aligns with established brand guidelines, maintaining visual consistency across all projects for a given client.
  • Stay current with the latest photography trends, techniques, equipment, and software to continually evolve and elevate the quality of work.
  • Archive, organize, and manage a comprehensive digital asset library, ensuring all images are correctly tagged, backed up, and easily accessible for future use.
  • Negotiate contracts, scope of work, and usage rights with clients, providing clear and accurate quotes for projects.
  • Travel to various on-location shoots, which may include local, domestic, or international destinations, and manage logistics for equipment and personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with camera equipment, lighting, and software in fast-paced shooting environments.
  • Develop and maintain a strong, professional portfolio that showcases a high level of skill, creativity, and a diverse range of work.

Secondary Functions

  • Scout, select, and secure appropriate locations for photoshoots that align with the creative concept and logistical requirements.
  • Assist in the development of creative briefs and mood boards to establish a clear visual direction for upcoming projects.
  • Provide expert guidance and recommendations on photographic styles and approaches to best achieve marketing or communication objectives.
  • Mentor junior photographers and assistants, providing constructive feedback and training on technical skills and creative best practices.
  • Manage studio inventory, including the procurement, maintenance, and repair of all photographic and lighting equipment.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced Camera Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of DSLR and mirrorless camera systems, including manual control of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
  • Professional Lighting Techniques: Mastery of studio and on-location lighting, including multi-strobe setups, modifiers, and natural light manipulation.
  • Digital Retouching & Editing: High-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Lightroom, and Capture One, for non-destructive editing, color grading, and advanced retouching.
  • Composition & Visual Theory: A strong eye for detail, framing, color theory, and composition to create visually impactful and balanced images.
  • Digital Asset Management (DAM): Experience with organizing, keywording, and archiving large volumes of digital files using DAM software or structured file systems.

Educational Background
