Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance on automatic pinsetter machines (e.g., Brunswick GS-X, A-2; AMF 82-90XLi) to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Proactively diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct a wide range of mechanical and electrical failures in pinsetters, ball returns, and scoring equipment with a high degree of accuracy.
- Execute major repairs and overhauls of pinsetter components, including rebuilding gearboxes, replacing worn-out motors, and precisely aligning critical operational parts.
- Respond immediately and efficiently to machine stops and malfunctions during active bowling hours, working to resolve issues swiftly and ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Meticulously clean all bowling equipment, including pins, pin decks, gutters, ball return systems, and the pit area, to meet established operational and safety standards.
- Conduct daily lane maintenance procedures, including cleaning and conditioning lanes using specialized oiling machines to provide consistent and fair play conditions for leagues and open play.
- Manage a comprehensive inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies, documenting usage and initiating orders as necessary to prevent stockouts of critical components.
- Read and interpret complex technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to effectively diagnose and repair intricate mechanical and electrical systems.
- Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety protocols and procedures when working on or near high-voltage and heavy mechanical equipment.
- Diligently document all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used in a detailed maintenance log or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Adjust, calibrate, and troubleshoot automatic scoring systems to ensure they are accurately tracking pinfall and scores for all bowlers on every lane.
- Systematically inspect, repair, or replace bowling pins, ensuring they meet house and/or USBC specifications for regulation play.
- Operate and maintain lane stripping and oiling machines, ensuring the correct application of approved oil patterns according to the center's daily and weekly schedule.
- Perform detailed inspections of the pit area, ensuring it remains clean, organized, and free of debris to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Secondary Functions
- Provide friendly, clear, and professional assistance to customers who are experiencing issues with their lane, the scoring system, or other facility equipment.
- Assist with general facility maintenance tasks as directed by management, which may include light plumbing, basic electrical work, painting, or minor carpentry.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated proficiency with a wide array of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Solid understanding of basic electrical principles and systems, including the ability to read wiring diagrams and safely use a multimeter for troubleshooting.
- Specific experience with and knowledge of various pinsetter models, particularly Brunswick (A-2, GS-Series) and/or AMF (82-70, 82-90XLi, 8800).
- Ability to proficiently operate, maintain, and calibrate automatic lane conditioning (oiling) machines.
- Working knowledge of inventory management practices for maintaining a stock of spare parts and supplies.
