Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Proactively monitor all pool and recreation areas to ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of all guests and members, maintaining constant vigilance.
- Diligently enforce all pool safety rules, policies, and health regulations in a courteous yet firm manner to prevent accidents and maintain a secure environment.
- Provide exceptional, anticipatory guest service by warmly greeting all visitors, answering questions, and responding to requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Conduct routine water quality tests for chlorine, pH, and alkalinity levels at designated intervals, accurately logging results and making necessary chemical adjustments under supervision.
- Maintain the pristine cleanliness and visual appeal of the entire aquatic facility, including the pool, spa, deck, restrooms, and all surrounding areas.
- Manage the distribution, tracking, and collection of guest towels, ensuring an ample supply of fresh, clean towels is always available and soiled linens are properly handled.
- Systematically arrange and maintain the orderly organization of all poolside furniture, including lounge chairs, tables, and umbrellas, throughout the day to ensure a neat appearance.
- Respond immediately and effectively to any poolside emergencies, including providing basic First Aid, administering CPR, or executing water rescue procedures as certified.
- Perform comprehensive daily opening and closing procedures for the pool area, ensuring all equipment is secured, and the facility is prepared for operation or overnight shutdown.
- Regularly inspect all pool equipment, safety features, and recreational amenities, promptly reporting any malfunctions, damages, or potential hazards to the maintenance or management team.
Secondary Functions
- Address and resolve guest complaints or concerns with empathy and professionalism, escalating issues to a supervisor when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Support the Food & Beverage team by taking and delivering poolside orders, clearing used service items, and assisting guests with their dining needs.
- Maintain a detailed and accurate daily log of activities, incidents, maintenance tasks, and chemical readings for compliance and record-keeping purposes.
- Assist in the setup, execution, and breakdown of poolside events, private parties, and member activities as directed by the recreation management team.
- Uphold the property's brand standards and service culture at all times, acting as a positive and knowledgeable ambassador for the facility.
- Ensure all poolside safety and rescue equipment (e.g., life rings, shepherd's hooks, first aid kits) is in its proper place and in excellent working order.
- Communicate effectively and collaboratively with other departments, including lifeguards, maintenance, and security, to ensure a seamless and safe guest experience.
- Provide a brief orientation for new guests, explaining the facility layout, available amenities, and highlighting key safety protocols.
- Assist with the inventory management and restocking of essential pool supplies, such as chemicals, cleaning materials, first aid supplies, and guest amenities.
- Remove trash and debris from the pool deck, receptacles, and surrounding landscape to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Report any observed suspicious individuals or unsafe behavior to security or management immediately to protect all guests and staff.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification: Must hold current certifications to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
- Pool Chemical Testing: Proficiency in using water testing kits to measure chlorine, pH, and other chemical levels accurately.
- Water Safety & Basic Rescue: Strong understanding of water safety principles and the ability to perform non-lifeguard assists. Lifeguard certification is a major plus.
- Knowledge of Safety Regulations: Familiarity with local health codes and safety standards pertaining to public swimming pools.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate and troubleshoot pool cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, skimmers, and pressure washers.
- Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems: Experience with or ability to quickly learn POS systems for processing food and beverage orders.

Education & Experience
Educational Background
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.

- Current Lifeguard Certification from a recognized organization.

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range: 0 - 2 years of relevant experience.
