Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop, maintain, and meticulously manage the master production schedule (MPS) to balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and inventory level targets.
- Create and release detailed daily and weekly production schedules for the shop floor, ensuring all work orders are accurate and sequenced for optimal efficiency and minimal downtime.
- Analyze demand signals, sales forecasts, and historical data to generate accurate material requirement plans (MRP), ensuring a steady and timely flow of raw materials and components.
- Proactively manage inventory levels for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to optimize turnover, minimize carrying costs, and prevent both stock-outs and obsolescence.
- Conduct regular capacity requirements planning (CRP) to identify potential production bottlenecks in advance, collaborating with operations to find solutions such as overtime, subcontracting, or process adjustments.
- Serve as a power user and subject matter expert for the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all planning-related master data, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Routings.
- Act as the primary communication hub between sales, customer service, and production teams, providing accurate order status updates, realistic lead times, and managing customer delivery expectations.
- Meticulously monitor production progress against the plan, identifying any deviations or delays in real-time and taking immediate corrective action to get back on track.
- Collaborate closely with the procurement team to communicate material forecasts, align on purchasing strategies, and expedite critical components as needed to prevent line-down situations.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the planning process, utilizing lean principles to reduce waste, shorten lead times, and enhance overall operational agility.
- Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Schedule Adherence, On-Time Delivery (OTD), Inventory Turns, and Forecast Accuracy, providing insightful analysis to management.
- Take ownership of resolving material and capacity shortages by leading cross-functional problem-solving efforts, re-prioritizing schedules, and evaluating alternative solutions.
- Manage the planning aspects of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), coordinating the smooth phase-in of new parts and phase-out of old parts with minimal scrap or production disruption.
- Play a vital planning role in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, developing initial production plans and material pipelines to support successful product launches and ramp-to-volume.
- Liaise with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure the synchronized flow of materials to the production line and the efficient dispatch of finished goods to meet shipping deadlines.
- Prepare comprehensive data and analysis to support the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle, presenting the supply plan and highlighting key risks and opportunities.
- Strategically define, review, and maintain appropriate safety stock levels for critical materials and finished goods based on demand variability, lead time, and service level targets.
- Analyze and determine optimal production lot sizes and manufacturing campaigns, balancing the trade-offs between equipment changeover costs and inventory holding costs.
- Plan and coordinate outsourced or subcontracted manufacturing operations, ensuring external partners receive clear schedules, have necessary materials, and meet all delivery and quality commitments.
- Lead production planning meetings, effectively communicating the schedule, priorities, and any potential challenges to all relevant stakeholders on the operations floor and in supporting departments.

Required Skills & Competencies
