Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of each child.
- Actively supervise children at all times, including during classroom activities, meal times, naps, and outdoor play, to ensure their physical safety and well-being.
- Assist in preparing and organizing learning materials and classroom activities, setting up learning centers, and ensuring the classroom is tidy and conducive to learning.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment by modeling respectful communication, encouraging positive social interactions, and helping children resolve conflicts peacefully.
- Provide individualized attention and support to children, adapting activities to meet their unique needs, interests, and developmental levels.
- Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative communication with each child's family, sharing observations about their child's day and progress in a professional manner.
- Assist children with personal care routines, such as diapering, toilet training, and handwashing, with patience and dignity.
- Implement positive discipline and classroom management techniques in a manner consistent with the school's philosophy.
- Observe and document children's learning, developmental milestones, and behaviors to support the lead teacher in assessments and parent conferences.
- Lead small group activities, read stories, and facilitate play-based learning experiences as directed by the lead teacher.
- Ensure the cleanliness and sanitization of classroom equipment, toys, and surfaces to maintain a healthy and safe environment for children and staff.
- Comfort children who are upset or distressed, providing a nurturing and reassuring presence to help them manage their emotions.
- Escort and supervise children during transitions between activities, to the playground, and during arrival and departure times.
- Actively participate in and support children's imaginative and constructive play, scaffolding their learning and extending their ideas.
- Follow all state licensing regulations, health and safety protocols, and school policies and procedures without exception.

- Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
- Assist with maintaining classroom records, such as attendance, daily reports, and incident logs, ensuring they are accurate and confidential.
