Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Oversee the day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring the entire production process from raw material intake to finished goods dispatch runs smoothly and effectively.
  • Develop, implement, and manage detailed production schedules and workflows to meet output targets, customer deadlines, and business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of production operators and technicians, assigning tasks, providing ongoing training, and conducting performance evaluations to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Champion and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards on the production floor, conducting regular risk assessments and safety audits to ensure a zero-harm workplace.
  • Monitor key production metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), cycle times, yield, and scrap rates to track performance.
  • Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance department to uphold rigorous quality control standards, investigate non-conformances, and implement root cause corrective actions.
  • Manage the allocation of resources, including manpower, machinery, and materials, to optimize workflow and minimize production downtime.
  • Ensure all production machinery and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition by coordinating with the maintenance department for scheduled and emergency repairs.
  • Control production costs by managing budgets, minimizing waste (material, time, and labor), and actively seeking cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive production reports for senior management, detailing performance, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to streamline processes and enhance operational excellence.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between different shifts and departments (e.g., Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering) to ensure seamless operational flow.
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to prevent shortages or excess stock, working in tandem with the supply chain team.
  • Ensure all production activities are documented accurately and comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ISO or other certification standards.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate daily goals, safety alerts, and other critical information to the production team.
  • Play a key role in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, providing feedback on manufacturing feasibility and helping to scale up production for new items.
  • Resolve conflicts and address personnel issues on the production floor promptly and professionally, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Plan for capacity and labor requirements based on production forecasts and demand planning inputs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for any production-related emergencies or disruptions, making critical decisions to mitigate impact.

  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process by providing forecasts for production-related expenses and capital expenditures.

  • Assist in supplier and vendor evaluations by providing feedback on the quality and timeliness of raw material deliveries.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Production Planning & Scheduling: Expertise in creating and managing production schedules to meet demand while optimizing resources.
  • Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma: Proficient in continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste and improve process flow.
  • ERP/MRP Systems: Hands-on experience with manufacturing software like SAP, Oracle, or similar Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
  • Quality Control (QC) Principles: Strong understanding of quality assurance standards, root cause analysis, and statistical process control (SPC).

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:

  • Master's Degree or a professional certification such as Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
