Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Spearhead the technical development of new products, leading all engineering activities from the initial concept and quotation phase through to a successful production launch.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between the internal engineering teams, manufacturing plants, quality assurance, and the end customer to ensure requirements are understood and met.
- Develop and meticulously maintain the master engineering timeline, ensuring all technical deliverables and milestones are achieved in alignment with the overall program schedule.
- Champion the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process, ensuring all required documentation and engineering deliverables are completed with rigor.
- Lead the creation and ongoing management of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) documents, including both Design (DFMEA) and Process (PFMEA) variations.
- Orchestrate and manage the entire engineering change management process (ECR/ECN), evaluating the technical feasibility, cost, and timing impact of any proposed changes.
- Drive the root cause analysis and corrective action process for all technical issues that arise during development, prototype builds, validation testing, and launch.
- Translate customer requirements, technical specifications, and regulatory standards into detailed product designs and engineering specifications.
- Coordinate and oversee all prototype build activities, ensuring parts are procured, assembled, and delivered according to the development plan.
- Develop, execute, and document the Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), ensuring the product is thoroughly tested and validated against all performance criteria.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Bill of Materials (BOM) throughout the product lifecycle, from initial structure to mass production release.
- Collaborate closely with the supply chain and purchasing teams to provide technical support for supplier selection and component feasibility assessments.
- Prepare and deliver compelling technical presentations and status reports to internal leadership, cross-functional teams, and external customers.
- Facilitate and lead technical design reviews at critical program gateways, ensuring cross-functional alignment and formally documenting all outcomes and action items.
- Provide direct, on-site support to manufacturing facilities during product launch phases to troubleshoot issues, optimize processes, and ensure a smooth production ramp-up.
- Analyze and interpret complex engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and technical data to make informed decisions and guide the development team.
- Lead technical risk assessment activities, proactively identifying potential design, manufacturing, or validation hurdles and developing robust mitigation plans.
- Manage the design, procurement, and validation of necessary tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for production, working with both internal and external vendors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product cost reduction, quality enhancement, and manufacturability improvements post-launch.
- Ensure the final product design is fully compliant with all applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements for the target market.

- FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis): Proficiency in leading both Design and Process FMEA workshops to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing): The ability to read, interpret, and apply GD&T principles to engineering drawings to ensure component fit and function.
