Primary Functions

  • Develop, champion, and execute comprehensive purchasing strategies and sourcing plans that align with the company's long-term objectives and financial goals.

  • Establish and manage inventory control policies and parameters to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts of critical materials.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers and procurement staff, setting clear performance expectations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and strategic sourcing.
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, meticulously tracking expenditures and delivering on aggressive cost-saving and cost-avoidance targets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential new suppliers to expand the vendor base, reduce single-source dependency, and drive competitive bidding.
  • Implement and monitor a robust supplier performance management program, utilizing scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track quality, delivery, and service levels.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality, and Production, to ensure sourced materials and components meet precise specifications and quality standards.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain, such as geopolitical instability, supplier financial distress, or logistical disruptions.
  • Prepare and present detailed procurement reports, spend analysis, and performance metrics to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to legal guidelines, ethical standards, and internal policies, including compliance with regulations like Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
  • Drive the adoption and optimization of procurement systems and e-sourcing tools (e.g., ERP, P2P platforms) to automate processes and improve data visibility.
  • Champion ethical and sustainable sourcing practices, integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into the supplier selection and management process.
  • Resolve complex and high-stakes vendor disputes and delivery issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Lead the creation and standardization of purchasing policies and procedures to ensure consistency and control across the organization.
  • Analyze historical spend data to identify opportunities for consolidation, strategic sourcing, and contract renegotiation.
  • Manage the procurement aspects of new product introductions (NPI), ensuring timely sourcing of materials for prototypes and mass production.
  • Direct the disposition of surplus, obsolete, and scrap materials to maximize value recovery for the organization.

Education & Experience

Educational Background
