Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive test plans and test strategies based on project requirements and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate all quality assurance activities for multiple projects, including test scheduling, resource allocation, and environment setup, within an Agile/Scrum framework.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all QA-related matters, facilitating clear and concise communication between development, product management, and testing teams.
  • Lead and moderate defect triage meetings, ensuring bugs are accurately documented, prioritized, and assigned to the appropriate development teams for timely resolution.
  • Oversee the creation, execution, and maintenance of detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases and test scripts.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key quality assurance metrics, such as defect density, test coverage, and pass/fail rates, to provide stakeholders with a clear view of product quality.
  • Manage and maintain the test environments, coordinating with DevOps and IT teams to ensure they are correctly configured and available for all planned testing cycles.
  • Plan and coordinate regression testing, smoke testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) cycles to ensure product stability and readiness for release.
  • Utilize and administer bug tracking systems (like JIRA or Azure DevOps) to monitor the entire lifecycle of defects from discovery through to verification and closure.
  • Generate and distribute detailed status reports on testing progress, results, and overall product quality to project stakeholders and senior management.
  • Champion and enforce QA best practices and standards across the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) to foster a culture of quality.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners and business analysts to deeply understand user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring test coverage aligns perfectly with business needs.
  • Review and analyze system specifications and requirements documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback from a quality and testability perspective.
  • Facilitate the Go/No-Go decision-making process for releases by providing a comprehensive overview of product quality, testing outcomes, and outstanding risks.
  • Mentor junior QA team members, providing guidance on testing techniques, process adherence, and the effective use of testing tools.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis to investigate potential quality issues.
  • Contribute to the organization's overall QA strategy and continuous improvement roadmap.
  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new testing tools and technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the QA process.
  • Participate in release planning and sprint planning ceremonies to advocate for quality and provide accurate effort estimations for testing activities.
  • Maintain and update the QA team's documentation repository, including process guides, tool configurations, and test artifacts in platforms like Confluence.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing test scenarios, assisting business users, and diligently tracking all feedback and reported issues.
  • Conduct post-release and post-implementation testing to validate fixes and ensure the ongoing stability of the production environment.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Test & Defect Management: High proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps (ADO), TestRail, or similar platforms.
  • SDLC/STLC Methodologies: Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC), with proven experience in Agile and Scrum frameworks.
  • Test Artifact Creation: Demonstrated experience in creating and executing comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for complex applications.
  • Testing Expertise: Solid knowledge of different testing types, including functional, non-functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Database & SQL: Basic knowledge of database concepts and the ability to write simple SQL queries for backend data validation and verification.
  • API Testing: Familiarity with API testing principles and tools like Postman or SoapUI is a significant plus.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • Certifications such as ISTQB Foundation Level (CTFL).

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a quality assurance or software testing role.

Preferred: At least 1-2 years of experience in a coordinator, lead, or senior QA capacity, demonstrating responsibility for planning and overseeing testing activities.
