Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they conform to established quality standards and specifications.
- Develop, document, and meticulously maintain comprehensive quality control standards, inspection procedures, and testing protocols for all products.
- Utilize a variety of measurement tools and precision instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs) to accurately verify product dimensions and functional characteristics.
- Identify, document, and quarantine non-conforming products or materials, and initiate non-conformance reports (NCRs) to track, investigate, and resolve quality issues.
- Collaborate closely with production, purchasing, and engineering teams to investigate the root cause of quality defects and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Analyze quality data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify negative trends, patterns, and systemic areas for process improvement, preparing detailed reports for management review.
- Conduct and participate in internal audits of production processes and the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO, FDA, or other relevant industry standards.
- Manage, maintain, and calibrate all inspection, measurement, and test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability in accordance with documented calibration schedules.
- Meticulously review and approve batch records, production logs, and other manufacturing documentation to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Train production staff and new quality personnel on quality control procedures, visual standards, proper inspection techniques, and the correct use of measurement equipment.
- Participate in the review and approval of supplier quality, including conducting supplier audits and evaluating the quality of incoming materials from external vendors.
- Facilitate the Material Review Board (MRB) process by presenting data on non-conforming materials to determine their final disposition (e.g., rework, scrap, use-as-is).
- Create and maintain detailed inspection records, test results, and quality reports, ensuring all documentation is organized, legible, and readily accessible for internal and external audits.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives by helping to develop quality plans, defining critical inspection criteria, and participating in design and process validation activities.
- Monitor environmental conditions in production and storage areas (e.g., temperature, humidity) where such factors can impact product integrity and quality.
- Act as a primary point of contact for quality-related inquiries from other departments, providing timely guidance and support to resolve issues promptly.
- Evaluate and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to ensure products are manufactured to the correct design requirements and tolerances.
- Manage the retention of quality records and physical product samples according to company policy and industry-specific regulatory requirements.
- Champion and drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying methodologies like Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S to enhance production efficiency and reduce defect rates.
- Assist in the thorough investigation of customer complaints and product returns, analyzing returned goods to determine the root cause of failure and prevent future recurrence.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)

- Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- In-depth experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO 13485).
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques and familiarity with software like Minitab for data analysis.
- Proven competency in conducting root cause analysis using structured methodologies like 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams, or Fault Tree Analysis.
- Direct experience with the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process, from initiation to verification of effectiveness.
- Thorough understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP), especially in regulated environments.
- Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data manipulation, charting, and reporting.
- Practical knowledge of various material and product testing methods (e.g., non-destructive testing, destructive testing, functional testing).
- Experience working within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) for lot tracing and inventory management.
- Internal auditing skills and formal certification (e.g., Certified Quality Auditor - CQA) is a significant advantage.
