Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Develop and create detailed Radio Frequency Data Sheets (RFDS) and a complete network design package for new site builds and technology modifications (e.g., 5G NR, LTE overlays).
- Perform end-to-end RF design for macro, micro, and in-building (DAS/Small Cells) systems, ensuring designs meet coverage, capacity, and performance objectives.
- Conduct link budget analysis, system dimensioning, and traffic analysis to accurately forecast network capacity requirements and trigger network expansions.
- Utilize advanced RF planning and propagation modeling software, such as Atoll, Planet, or iBwave, to create predictive coverage maps and performance simulations.
- Analyze and process pre-launch and post-launch drive test data to identify optimization opportunities, troubleshoot performance issues, and validate design accuracy.
- Manage and execute frequency, scrambling code (PSC), and Physical Cell ID (PCI) planning to minimize interference and optimize network performance.
- Evaluate and select optimal candidate locations for new cell sites in collaboration with site acquisition and real estate teams, considering RF objectives and zoning constraints.
- Conduct detailed interference analysis and develop mitigation strategies to resolve issues arising from internal or external sources.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as drop call rate, accessibility, retainability, and throughput, implementing parameter changes to achieve target performance.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of the RF network design, including site configurations, antenna information, and parameter settings.
- Support the integration of new network nodes, ensuring they are brought on-air with the correct parameters and perform as designed.
- Lead optimization efforts for special events and high-traffic venues to ensure robust network performance under heavy load conditions.
- Collaborate closely with regional engineering, operations, and construction teams to ensure design integrity is maintained from planning through to implementation.
- Perform ongoing network tuning by adjusting antenna tilts, azimuths, and radio parameters to continuously improve user experience and network efficiency.
- Evaluate and provide technical feedback on new hardware, software, and feature releases from equipment vendors (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung).

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- RF Planning & Simulation Tools: Expert-level proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Forsk Atoll, Infovista Planet, or iBwave.
- Wireless Technologies: Deep understanding of 4G/LTE, 5G NR (NSA/SA), and VoLTE/VoNR architecture, procedures, and 3GPP standards.
- Data Analysis & Post-Processing: Experience with drive test and post-processing tools like TEMS, NEMO, Accuver, or Windcatcher.
- Propagation Modeling: Strong knowledge of RF propagation models (e.g., Okumura-Hata, COST 231) and their calibration.
- RAN KPIs & Parameters: In-depth understanding of Radio Access Network (RAN) parameters, key performance indicators (KPIs), and counters for major vendors (Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung).
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python is highly preferred) and SQL for data manipulation and task automation.
- GIS Software: Familiarity with mapping and GIS tools like MapInfo, ArcGIS, or QGIS for spatial analysis and data visualization.
- Spectrum Analysis: Hands-on experience with spectrum analyzers and a strong understanding of interference detection and mitigation techniques.
