Primary Functions

- Develop, document, and maintain comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all rail logistics activities to ensure consistency, compliance, and operational excellence across all locations.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of railcar maintenance and repair cycles in accordance with AAR (Association of American Railroads) and FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) regulations, coordinating with repair shops to minimize asset downtime.
- Prepare and submit all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading (BOLs), customs paperwork, and hazardous materials declarations, ensuring 100% compliance with all transport regulations.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve any in-transit issues, such as delays, misrouted cars, or service failures, by working collaboratively with railroad dispatch and customer service teams to implement swift corrective actions.
- Compile, analyze, and present key performance data and metrics related to all facets of rail operations, providing insightful commentary and actionable recommendations for continuous improvement to senior management.
- Conduct regular, in-depth analysis of rail carrier performance, freight rates, and market trends to identify and capitalize on opportunities for significant cost savings and service enhancements.
- Oversee the strategic ordering and placement of empty railcars at all shipping locations, ensuring a steady supply to meet demanding loading schedules and prevent any costly plant or operational disruptions.
- Ensure all rail activities, particularly the handling and shipment of hazardous materials, are conducted in strict compliance with DOT, FRA, AAR, and Transport Canada regulations to maintain a sterling safety record.
- Collaborate closely with a wide range of internal teams, including Customer Service, Sales, and Plant Operations, to communicate shipment statuses and proactively manage expectations regarding transit times and potential delays.
