Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively engage with guests to promote and explain available recreational activities, services, and facilities, encouraging participation and enhancing their overall experience.
  • Diligently monitor all recreational areas, including swimming pools, hot tubs, and activity zones, to ensure guest safety, adherence to rules, and a positive atmosphere at all times.
  • Meticulously maintain the cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal of the pool deck, cabanas, fitness center, and surrounding recreational spaces, including arranging furniture and removing debris.
  • Facilitate scheduled daily and weekly recreational activities, such as poolside games, arts and crafts sessions, or sports tournaments, with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns, providing accurate information or escalating issues to a supervisor when necessary.
  • Issue and retrieve recreational equipment, towels, and other amenities, maintaining an accurate log and ensuring all items are returned in good condition.
  • Enforce all safety regulations and facility policies consistently and politely to maintain a secure and enjoyable environment for all patrons.
  • Conduct routine inspections of recreational equipment and facilities, promptly reporting any malfunctions, damage, or safety hazards to maintenance or management.
  • Provide basic first aid and respond to emergencies in a calm and professional manner, following established safety protocols until professional medical help arrives.
  • Set up and break down equipment and supplies for special events, group activities, and daily programming, ensuring everything is in its proper place.
  • Assist guests with the reservation and rental of recreational amenities, such as cabanas, kayaks, or bicycles, accurately processing transactions as required.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all resort/facility services, hours of operation, and local attractions to act as a helpful resource for guests.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where guests of all ages and backgrounds feel comfortable and encouraged to participate.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in managing inventory levels of recreational supplies, towels, and retail items, notifying a supervisor when stock is low.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Housekeeping, Engineering, and Front Office, to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Support the setup of signage and promotional materials for upcoming events and activities to drive guest awareness and participation.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to stay current on new procedures, safety updates, and service standards.
  • Document and report all incidents, accidents, or guest feedback in the appropriate logbook or system for management review.
  • Assist in light cleaning and maintenance duties, such as testing pool water chemistry, skimming pools, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces.
  • Contribute creative ideas for new activities, events, and service enhancements to continuously improve the recreational offerings.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification: Current certification is often required to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
  • Water Safety Knowledge: Understanding of basic water rescue techniques and pool safety standards, with Lifeguard certification being a significant plus.
  • POS System Operation: Ability to process payments for rentals, retail, or food and beverage items accurately.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Basic knowledge of how to inspect, clean, and perform minor maintenance on recreational equipment.
  • Pool Chemistry Testing: Familiarity with testing and interpreting pool and spa water chemistry levels for safety and compliance.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Education:

  • Some college coursework in Hospitality, Recreation Management, or a related field.

  • Kinesiology or Physical Education

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 0-2 years of experience.

Preferred: 6+ months of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within the hospitality, recreation, or service industry (e.g., hotel, resort, country club, theme park, or community center).
