Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Plan, organize, and lead a wide variety of structured and unstructured recreational activities, including sports, games, arts and crafts, and special events for diverse age groups and abilities.
- Actively supervise program participants to ensure their safety and well-being, proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards in indoor and outdoor settings.
- Implement and enforce established rules of conduct and behavior policies consistently and fairly to maintain a positive, respectful, and disciplined environment for all.
- Develop and execute creative, age-appropriate daily and weekly activity plans and schedules that align with program objectives and participant interests.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to participants, demonstrating and encouraging good sportsmanship, cooperation, and positive social skills.
- Adapt program activities and instructional techniques on the fly to accommodate varying group sizes, skill levels, weather conditions, and participant energy levels.
- Prepare and organize all necessary supplies, materials, and equipment for scheduled activities, ensuring they are in good condition and safely stored after use.
- Provide excellent customer service by professionally and courteously interacting with parents, guardians, and the general public, answering questions and providing program information.
- Administer basic first aid and respond effectively to minor injuries or emergencies, following established protocols and completing necessary incident reports.
- Mediate and resolve minor conflicts or disputes among participants using positive communication and conflict resolution techniques.
- Oversee the sign-in and sign-out procedures for participants, ensuring accountability and communication with authorized parents or guardians.
- Lead and instruct specialized activities based on personal expertise, such as a particular sport, artistic medium, or outdoor skill.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program space, including performing light custodial duties and setting up/tearing down rooms and equipment.
- Assist in the evaluation of program effectiveness by gathering participant feedback, observing engagement, and providing input to supervisors.
- Uphold and promote the organization's mission, vision, and values in all interactions and program activities.
Secondary Functions
- Assist with the promotion and marketing of recreation programs by distributing flyers, contributing to social media content, and engaging in community outreach.
- Perform routine administrative duties, such as accurately maintaining daily attendance logs, participant records, and supply inventory sheets.
- Participate in and contribute to mandatory staff meetings, professional development workshops, and safety training sessions.
- Provide support for large-scale community-wide special events, which may include setup, guest services, activity facilitation, and breakdown.
- Inspect recreational facilities and equipment regularly, reporting any damage, safety concerns, or maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.

Educational Background
Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range: 1-3 years of progressively responsible experience in a recreational, educational, or leadership setting.
Preferred: Direct, hands-on experience leading and supervising groups of children, teens, or other target populations in a setting such as a community center, summer camp, or after-school program. Prior experience in a lead capacity is highly desirable.
