Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Systematically disassemble and reassemble a wide range of electronic devices, such as smartphones, laptops, gaming consoles, or specialized equipment, following detailed manufacturer guidelines.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic testing using specialized software and hardware tools to accurately identify hardware and software faults.
  • Perform intricate component-level repairs, including micro-soldering and desoldering of surface-mount devices (SMD), BGA chips, and connectors.
  • Meticulously replace defective or worn-out components, such as screens, batteries, motherboards, ports, and internal flex cables, ensuring proper fit and function.
  • Execute firmware flashing, software installations, and system configurations to restore devices to factory settings or upgrade them to the latest stable versions.
  • Perform thorough data wiping and sanitization procedures on all devices to ensure complete removal of previous user data in compliance with data privacy standards.
  • Carefully clean and detail the exterior and interior of products to restore their cosmetic appearance to the highest possible grade.
  • Conduct rigorous, multi-point quality assurance checks and functional testing post-repair to validate that all issues have been resolved and the device meets all performance benchmarks.
  • Diligently document every step of the refurbishment process, including diagnostics, parts used, actions taken, and final test results, within the company's service management system.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of spare parts, components, and tools, submitting reorder requests as necessary to avoid work stoppages.
  • Adhere strictly to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety protocols at all times to prevent damage to sensitive electronic components.
  • Read, interpret, and apply technical information from schematics, service manuals, and engineering diagrams to inform troubleshooting and repair strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to meet and exceed daily and weekly production targets while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Provide detailed feedback to engineering and product teams regarding common failure points, trends, and potential design improvements discovered during the repair process.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot repair equipment and diagnostic tools to ensure they are operating accurately and efficiently.
  • Evaluate the condition of incoming products (RMAs) to determine whether they are economically viable to repair or should be designated for salvage.
  • Prepare and package fully refurbished and tested units according to specific company standards for safe storage and shipment to customers.
  • Assist in developing and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new products or evolving repair techniques to improve team-wide efficiency.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and suggesting process enhancements that can reduce turnaround time, lower costs, or improve quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation and contribute to the overall tidiness of the technical services area.

Secondary Functions

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Component-Level Repair: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electronics at the component level, including strong micro-soldering and hot-air rework station skills.
  • Diagnostic Acumen: Expertise in using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and specialized diagnostic software to effectively troubleshoot complex faults.
  • Schematic Interpretation: The ability to read and understand electronic schematics and board-view diagrams to trace circuits and identify fault locations.
  • Technical Assembly/Disassembly: High level of skill in carefully taking apart and reassembling intricate electronic devices without causing damage.
  • Software/Firmware Management: Experience with flashing firmware, installing operating systems (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS), and configuring device software.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 1-3 years of hands-on experience in electronics repair, assembly, or a similar technical role.

Preferred: Demonstrable experience in a high-volume refurbishment or repair center, especially with specific product categories like consumer electronics, mobile devices, or medical equipment. Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Apple Certified Mac/iOS Technician (ACMT/ACiT) are highly valued.
