They are the linchpin that connects the employee, the company's HR and Global Mobility teams, and a network of external service providers, ultimately driving the success of the organization's talent mobility strategy.

Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Act as the single point of coordination for a dedicated caseload of relocating employees, providing comprehensive support throughout the entire relocation lifecycle.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments and introductory calls with employees to explain the relocation policy, set expectations, and build a trusted relationship.
  • Provide in-depth counseling and guidance on all aspects of the relocation policy, interpreting and applying benefits such as housing assistance, shipment of goods, and travel allowances.
  • Initiate and manage a network of third-party service providers, including real estate agents, moving companies, immigration attorneys, and destination service providers.
  • Develop customized relocation plans and timelines for each transferee, proactively managing milestones and critical dates to ensure a smooth process.
  • Oversee the household goods moving process from survey to delivery, acting as an escalation point for any service issues or claims.
  • Coordinate temporary housing accommodations, ensuring they meet the employee’s needs and company policy guidelines.
  • Assist employees in their home-finding efforts by connecting them with qualified real estate professionals and providing area-specific information.
  • Manage and track all relocation-related expenses, auditing invoices for accuracy and processing them for payment in a timely manner.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for individual relocations, ensuring financial activities remain within policy and client-approved limits.
  • Maintain constant communication with the employee and their family, providing proactive updates, emotional support, and practical solutions to challenges that arise.
  • Ensure all relocation activities are compliant with the client's global mobility policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the relocating employee, their hiring manager, and the client's HR or Global Mobility department.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any service delivery failures or escalations with vendors to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Utilize proprietary relocation management software to maintain meticulous and up-to-date records for every relocation file.
  • Coordinate with immigration specialists to monitor and support visa and work permit application processes for international assignments.
  • Facilitate miscellaneous relocation services such as spousal/partner career support, school search assistance, and cultural training.
  • Conduct post-relocation follow-ups and surveys to measure employee satisfaction and gather feedback for process improvement.

Secondary Functions

  • Support senior consultants and account managers by generating regular and ad-hoc client reporting on relocation volume, spend, and policy exceptions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of relocation policies and processes by identifying trends and providing actionable feedback from the front lines.
  • Collaborate with business development and client implementation teams to provide subject matter expertise during sales pitches and new client onboarding.
  • Participate in team projects, system testing, and training initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new team members, sharing best practices and institutional knowledge.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Relocation/Mobility Software Proficiency: Experience using global mobility management platforms (e.g., AssignmentPro, Topia, Equus).
  • Vendor & Supply Chain Management: Skill in initiating, managing, and evaluating the performance of third-party service providers.
  • Budgeting & Financial Acumen: Ability to create cost estimates, track expenses against a budget, and audit invoices.
  • Policy Interpretation & Application: Expertise in reading, understanding, and clearly explaining complex corporate relocation policies.
  • Immigration & Visa Process Knowledge: A foundational understanding of visa types and the general process for international assignments.
  • Real Estate & Housing Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the home sale, home purchase, and rental processes in key markets.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
  • Certified Relocation Professional (CRP)® and/or Global Mobility Specialist (GMS)® designation is highly desirable.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 2-5 years of direct experience in residential real estate, corporate relocation, global mobility, or a closely related client-services field.

Preferred:

  • Experience working for a relocation management company (RMC), in a corporate global mobility department, or in a role with direct accountability for coordinating complex services for individuals. Experience managing international or expatriate relocations is a significant plus.
