Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Diligently unload and process inbound merchandise shipments from trucks, ensuring accuracy by verifying items and quantities against shipping manifests and purchase orders.
- Skillfully utilize handheld technology, such as RF scanners and mobile devices, to accurately track inventory movement, process stock, and perform system-driven tasks.
- Execute the timely and efficient replenishment of products on the sales floor, moving goods from backstock areas to ensure shelves are full, neat, and appealing.
- Maintain a high standard of organization and cleanliness within the stockroom and back-of-house areas, including consolidating merchandise, organizing overstock, and managing pallets.
- Interpret and implement planograms and visual merchandising directives to ensure products are displayed correctly, priced accurately, and meet brand standards.
- Proactively monitor stock levels on the sales floor throughout a shift, identifying and communicating low-stock or out-of-stock situations to management.
- Collaborate with sales and management teams to prepare for promotional events and seasonal changes, including setting up new displays and executing floor sets.
- Systematically perform inventory-related tasks such as cycle counts, stock adjustments, and clearance processing to maintain data integrity within the inventory management system.
- Ensure all merchandise is properly ticketed with correct pricing and equipped with the necessary security tags before being placed on the sales floor.
- Safely operate stockroom equipment, including but not limited to pallet jacks, hand trucks, and rolling carts, following all company safety and OSHA guidelines.
- Break down and dispose of cardboard, plastic, and other packaging materials in designated recycling and waste compactors to maintain a safe and clear work environment.
- Assist in preparing and staging products for customer online orders (BOPIS - Buy Online, Pick-up In-Store), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Address and report any product damage, defects, or discrepancies discovered during the receiving or stocking process to the appropriate supervisor.
- Provide friendly and efficient assistance to customers on the sales floor who may have questions about product location or availability.
- Manage the flow and placement of backstock merchandise, ensuring it is logically organized and easily accessible for future replenishment needs.
- Participate actively in regular team meetings to discuss goals, challenges, and strategies for improving replenishment efficiency and store performance.
- Execute price changes and promotional signage updates with a high degree of accuracy to ensure a positive and clear shopping experience for customers.
- Support the reverse logistics process by preparing items for return-to-vendor (RTV) or transfer to other locations as directed by inventory leadership.
- Adhere strictly to all loss prevention policies and procedures to minimize shrinkage and protect company assets.
- Maintain a flexible approach to work, adapting to changing priorities and willingly taking on different tasks as needed to support the overall team effort.
Secondary Functions

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- RF Scanner Operation: Proficiency in using handheld radio-frequency scanners for tracking inventory, picking, and putting away stock.
- Inventory Management Software (IMS): Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn inventory systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or proprietary software).
- Planogram Interpretation: The ability to read and execute visual merchandising layouts and product placement guides.
- Pallet Jack Operation: Experience and/or certification in safely operating manual and electric pallet jacks.
