Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide daily leadership, mentorship, and direct supervision to a team of junior and senior researchers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality output.
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of multiple, complex research projects, from initial scoping and proposal writing to final reporting and dissemination.
  • Design and implement robust quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and experimental designs, to address key research questions.
  • Develop comprehensive research plans, including detailed timelines, resource allocation, and budget management, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Ensure all research activities adhere to the highest ethical standards and comply with relevant institutional (e.g., IRB) and governmental regulations.
  • Supervise the data collection process, ensuring the implementation of quality control measures to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
  • Guide the team in performing advanced statistical analysis of quantitative data and rigorous thematic analysis of qualitative data.
  • Author and co-author high-impact research reports, manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, and white papers that clearly communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Translate complex research findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations on research methodologies and results to senior leadership, clients, and at scientific or industry conferences.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and strategy, to ensure research is aligned with organizational goals.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all assigned research projects, communicating status updates and mitigating risks proactively.
  • Manage the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new research staff to build a high-performing and collaborative team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for direct reports.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Master's Degree

Preferred Education:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

  • Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, or a related social or data science field

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in conducting research, including at least 2 years in a leadership, mentorship, or direct supervisory role.

Preferred:

  • A strong track record of managing the full lifecycle of multiple research projects in a corporate, academic, or non-profit setting.
  • A portfolio of work and/or a strong record of publications and conference presentations is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, applied research environment where research directly informs strategy or product development.
