Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Diligently load, transport, and deliver food and beverage orders to customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner, ensuring items arrive in pristine condition.
- Meticulously review customer orders before departure and upon arrival to guarantee completeness, accuracy, and adherence to any special instructions.
- Expertly handle various payment transactions, including cash, credit cards, and digital payments, providing accurate change and ensuring all financial records are precise.
- Adhere to assigned delivery routes and dynamic time schedules, proactively communicating any potential delays due to traffic, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Strategically plan and execute the most efficient delivery routes using a combination of GPS technology and local geographical knowledge to optimize delivery times.
- Maintain constant, clear communication with the restaurant's dispatch or management team, providing real-time updates on order status and delivery progress.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of the delivery vehicle, ensuring it is clean, adequately fueled, and in good working order, and promptly report any maintenance issues.
- Carefully load and unload orders, using appropriate carriers and handling techniques to prevent spillage, temperature loss, and damage to packaging.
- Rigorously verify the age and identity of customers for orders containing alcoholic beverages, strictly complying with all local and state regulations.
- Serve as the face of the restaurant by providing exceptional, friendly customer service, professionally addressing customer inquiries, and resolving any on-site issues.
- Uphold stringent food safety standards by ensuring all items are transported at their required temperatures using insulated delivery bags and proper handling procedures.
- Manage and organize all delivery-related documentation, including customer receipts, payment slips, and daily delivery logs, for accurate end-of-shift reconciliation.
- Effectively utilize company-provided or personal mobile devices and applications for order management, navigation, and communication with both the restaurant and the customer.
- Operate the delivery vehicle in strict accordance with all traffic laws, company policies, and defensive driving principles to ensure personal and public safety.
Secondary Functions
- Assist with in-store tasks during periods of low delivery volume, including light food preparation like portioning ingredients or assembling packaging.
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the restaurant by washing dishes, cleaning workstations, and performing other janitorial duties as needed.
- Support front-of-house operations by answering phone calls, taking customer orders, and accurately inputting them into the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Proactively restock delivery stations with essential supplies such as bags, containers, cutlery, napkins, and condiments to ensure operational readiness.
